Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

some writer was in the booth being funny and I guess it pissed Marty off. He said something like "let me tell you what I don't like about you ninnies" talking about writers and how they are up in a booth where it's warm....unlike radio guys who have to be in the cold apparently? I didn't catch it all, but I did hear lines from Marty like "Oh that's a weak excuse" real snippy like.

It sounded like Marty was kind of pissed. I was laughing.

The guy either

1) dared disagree with Marty about ...well, anything or

2) Someone from the Reds didn't hustle out to his position between innings, nothing will set The Poofy Haired one off like that will.

he started off the inning with a pretty witty crack at Marty's expense.

He must not have gotten the memo that HOF broadcasters are living god's and not to be made fun of. Especially little ones with big hair and a big leather chair.

Dusty needs to scrap the L-R-L shit, because once again (big fucking surprise!) it ain't working. Philips couldn't hit a ball off a tee with a boat oar when he's in the 4-spot. Must be a head-thing. Dusty should try flipping Philips and Votto, but I know that won't happen since having your 3-4-5 guys go R-L-L angers the Lords of Stupid Baseball Traditions and Superstitions That Will Lose Your Team an Extra 15 Games a Year.

The Reds 48-63 RS-RA differential equates to a 5-8 record. At this clip they won't even score 600 runs this year. They are the third worst offensive team in ALL OF MLB.

Not that anyone should have thought this lineup was going to be Murderer's Row, but it shouldn't be this bad either, and a big part of it is because I have as many RBI as Brandon Philips over the past week, and I don't even play baseball.

Lets ask Dusty if Dryden's 3-4-5 hitter plan will work:

Still nice to take 2 out of 3 @ MIL and 3 out of 4 @ HOU with that offensive onslaught. Imagine if BP had 12 RBI in the past week, and the Reds dropped 4 or 5 of those.

"Man, we suck, but it sure is nice seeing all these runs!!"

Not trying to be a smart ass, but it's nice winning division road games in the mean time.

Well, not to be a party-pooper, but given Jax isn't in this thread right now ... the only thing I can take from the Houston and Milwaukee series are that the Reds won them because those are the only two teams in the NL Central that are worse than the Reds. Houston's offense is abyssmal, and Milwaukee's pitching staff hands out BBs like they're candy.

What is sad is the Reds could very easily wind up getting swept by the Cubs, go home to Cinci with a losing record in the division (7-8) and Dusty will say it was a great road trip because the team went 5-5 for the first time since 1990.
