Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

Loss of Kepp will cripple this already weak hitting team. No one else in the organization that can play SS can hit worth a damn. Now with the OF and SS replacement you have 4 auto outs in the lineup every night plus the pitcher.

This is honestly starting to remind me of the early 80's.

How about get rid of the culture of losing, by bringing up winners and shipping the turds off...

I'd be fine with that. Although, I don't think it is so much having "turds" on the team, as it is a lack of vocal leadership. As long as Griffey and Dunn are defacto team "leaders" or at least leaders of the offense, I think the problem will persist. It's not really their presence that is the problem as much as it is the absence of the type of player who could replace them. Although, trading Casey was the right move because his bat didn't justify his contract, they have missed him greatly as a leader. He was the type of guy who could co-exist with Griff and Dunn and provide leadership without stepping on toes. It isn't by chance that nobody has worn the "c" patch since Larkin retired. I think if Griff and Dunn were to leave, others would be more comfortable stepping into that role.

Tonights comedy presented by Dusty the Clown

1. Corey Patterson cf
2. Jerry Hairston Jr. ss
3. Ken Griffey Jr. rf
4. Brandon Phillips 2b
5. Joey Votto 1b
6. Edwin Encarnacion 3b
7. Adam Dunn lf
8. Paul Bako c
9. Bronson Arroyo p

Janish got the call up, hopefully he doesn't continue to sit for Harriston because that dick licker can't play SS any better than I can.

Once again the productive hitters this year are # 4, 5, 6 and 8 in Dusty's lineup. Auto outs at #1, 2, 3, 7 and 9 but hey, he's keeping the lefties broken up (almost) so we have that going for us.

When 5 of your 9 are out makers, and you are banking on Bako and Phillips as two of your productive hitters you have a problem no matter how you put it together...

Hopefully Janish gets some time at SS, and Hairston isn't at SS all the time...He is a solid utility guy, but not an everyday player, and especially not at SS...

....annnnd thats why they are the Reds.

Our bullpen, that is supposed to be fixed, blows a 6 run lead in the top of the 9th.

Leadoff walk for us in bottom 9, no way in hell they get him home.
