Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

Why the fuck is Mike Lincoln still on this team?

because he's one of the 12 best pitchers in the entire organization.

But there is no need for a firesale to actually build some depth of talent in the minors, we're close to competing in a weak division. :shake:

Not going to fret about the blow up in the ninth...What I am going to talk about tho is Arroyo 2nd great start...He looked great...If he continues throwing the way he has the last 2, we are going to be tough to beat...With 3/4 solid starters if Cueto can get it back together...

Great to see Janish with the game winner...I just had that feeling once they put him in for Dunn in the 8th inning that for some reason that we were going to blow it and he was going to be up with a chance to win it...

That is 3 games in a row...6 of last 9 I think...

Silver lining......... yes I know coming from me might be a rare commodity but,

Hairston is servicable and combining with Janish might actually get the job done until better players are found or Kepp comes back.

Whats up with Pattersons' "Josh Hamilton" impersonation in CF tonight?! Works for me.

Dunn hits a homer. Good news.

I am actually not that upset about CoCo blowing the save. You knew it was going to happen eventually, nobody's perfect, but he didnt give up the winners and allowed us to battle back in the 10th. Mike Lincoln on the other hand is a big WTF!!!!!!! Pack your bags buddy, you arent ready.

Jay Bruce. Good Lord. He went another 3-4 tonight and upped his average over the last 10 games to .670. Thats unreal at any level. The time is now shit heels to get him up here and leave him here!

We actually manufactured some runs tonight if you can believe it. How did that happen?

Bronson Arroyo. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde all over again. When he's got that curve going he's pretty sick. Its like watching people try to hit Wakefields knuckler, when it was knuckling cant hit it. When it doesnt, here comes 5 or 6 runs in an inning. Guys like that though you know arent going to tire out at 100 pitches. Arroyo probably could've pitched the whole game. Yeah, way to go there Dusty. :shake:

Oh, btw, we just took 3 straight from the NL East leading Florida Marlins, who were leading the Majors in winning percentage prior to our series. I'll take it.

Since when is that a difference ?

There is a difference, as slight as it may be. Although I DO kill puppies on a fairly regular basis, it is only after a Reds game that I really WANT to be doing it. Usually, it is more of a compulsion than a desire.

In other, more baseball-related, news....

For as good as Volquez has been, Josh Hamilton has been tremendous for the Rangers: .293 BA, 13 doubles, 2 triples, 8 home runs, 44 RBI.

More than twice as many RBI as anyone for the Reds. :yow1:

Good for him. Glad to see him healthy and producing. :)

I didn't like the trade that much when it happened because I really liked Hamilton, but I understood the trade, and love that we have Volquez...I would of loved to of sent someone else to Texas for Volquez, but that wouldn't of happened...But bruce, Hamilton, Votto, EE, Phillips would of been a pretty scary lineup for us...
