Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

Really don't like doing what Dusty did in terms of running Coco out there for the 4th day in a row, especially after all of Coco's blown saves have been in his 3rd straight day...I understand we have an off day tomorrow, but we had a 3 run lead...We could of went with Weathers, Affeldt, Magic man or someone else...

We escaped tho...Bring out the brooms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the Cubs win today we are 7 games back in the wild card...

With an off day tomorrow, we need to get ready for a big 6 games with 3 at Chicago and 3 at Milk...4-2 would be ideal...Anything better would be awesome...3-3 wouldn't be horrible, but we need to strike while the iron is hot...

Big game tonight with Harang on the hill...He needs to show us why his our ace and keep the hot streak going, and we need to score some runs off of Dempster...

What is that? They need to score runs, and also have more than the other team? Now you tell me!! This game has confused me for yeeeeeaaaaars!

They were talking about something in his forearm bothering him but it didnt sound like an injury. He's hanging his breaking ball and his fastball is not locating like he has in the past. Whatever it is, he better get it fixed.

Cubs rock Reds; what's ailing Harang?

Cincinnati's quest for .500 suffers a setback in a 7-3 loss at Wrigley Field.

CHICAGO ? The first step of Operation Recovery was a giant step backward for the Cincinnati Reds in Wrigley Field on Tuesday night, July 8 ? and a step off a cliff by pitcher Aaron Harang.
Afforded an opportunity to creep closer to the first-place Chicago Cubs, the Reds were shoved solidly backwards, 7-3, dropping 11? games out of first place and five games under .500.
They must win their final five on this trip to scatter for the All-Star break at .500, an unlikely scenario because the next two are against the Cubs and the final three against the Milwaukee Brewers.

OK, I'm gonna do some game thread tonight. Zambrano's on the mound for the Cubs. It's always fun when the Reds touch him up and he blows his top.

The talk of the Reds getting back into the wild card race was a bit misguided I think. The real goal they should be chasing is a .500 record. Sweeping a series against the worst team in baseball at home is not really something that puts the Reds in any kind of race. It does however put them in a position to get to .500 or maybe a little bit better by the end of the year, and given they way this team has played the last few years and especially in April of this year, that would be a nice accomplishment as they move forward.

Bruce strikes out swinging.
Keppinger reaches on fielding error by 3B.
Griffey strikes out swinging. Keppinger caught stealing at 2nd.
