Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

I could never bail but I agree with him.

I used to tell my cousins who are Bengal fans they had earned the right to file for fan Free Agency. My magic number is 13 years. If your pro sports team(never college) sucks donkey dick for 13 years or more AND the franchise is still being run by some fuckhead thats just trying to make a buck then by all means....submit thy fan FA paperwork to your agent by the deadline.

I'll never file for free agency. It's been almost 20 years since the Browns were last great and the Reds are working on it.

Close game turned ugly
After loss to Pirates, Reds have worst record in baseball
BY JOHN FAY | [email protected]

The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Reds 10-4 in 10 innings Friday night. That's right, in 10 innings.
The Pirates scored eight runs in the 10th. The Reds scored two in the bottom of the inning.
Everything that could go wrong did go wrong, and then some. Many of the 36,455 at Great American Ball Park were still around for the debacle. They booed lustily and cheered outs derisively.

"It just got away from us," Reds manager Jerry Narron said. "Simple as that. It was hard to believe. I've been around that game a long time. The last couple of weeks, I've seen some things that are hard to believe."
Frustration boiled over in this one. David Weathers, who gave up six of the runs in the 10th, kicked over a fan in the home dugout.
"This is as bad as I've seen it," Scott Hatteberg said. "We're not in a hole that we can't dig ourselves out of, but we've got to turn it around."

The inning that got awayThe Pirates' eight-run 10th inning was the biggest inning allowed by the Reds since they gave up 10 runs in the first inning to the Dodgers on June 6, 2005, also at Great American Ball Park. Here's a look:

Top of the 10th

(David Weathers pitching)

Freddy Sanchez hit a ground-rule double to center; McLouth scored; Bautista to third.

Pirates 4, Reds 2

Adam LaRoche intentionally walked.

Jason Bay hit by pitch; Bautista scored. Pirates 5, Reds 2

(Brad Salmon pitching)

Castellini maintains status quo
Reds CEO: Team better than record
BY JOHN FAY | [email protected]

Reds CEO Bob Castellini sounded downcast Friday. It would be hard for him not to, with the way his club is playing.
But even though the Reds now have the worst record in baseball, Castellini isn't promising a shakeup or big changes.
"We're taking it day by day," he said. "We're trying to get better."

Well I have had plans for two months to go to the game tomm as it is my birthday, but after watching the debacle of giving up all them run friday night in the 10th inning I have decided I am not going...

The worst play of the inning was when Freel threw the ball to home, it went of Hattes glove then by Moeller and then by the time Weathers or whoever was in couldnt get the guy out at home...

It is seriously minor league bullshit and the only way we can score is to hit a homerun...This team has no sense of an RBI single or double...

I am going to pack it in for awhile and just try not to care, b/c at this point or about 2 weeks ago I realized that we were not heading anywhere to close to competing, and I am still living and dying with every bad play, bad inning or bad kick of the fan in the dugout, like all fans do, but at this point, I just feel bad for them that they suck so bad, not sure if they would compete in AAA at the moment...I now know how the Royals fans have felt for the past umpteen years...

Folks, that there from cbf40 says it all - a dedicated follower has abandoned the Reds.

This once was a crazy fan town for the Reds, and that time was not all that long ago.

Now the only time you can guarantee some Reds fever in the air is on Opening Day.

After which we have the slow decline (or this year rapid decline) into mediocrity, then embarrassment, followed by denial, then depression - then, finally, abandonment.

Good job Reds, you have made it to abandonment before the All Star break. A news low even for this organization.

They've climbed back to within two, at 11-9.

Looks like for good measure they're gonna come back and tie it or grab a lead, then blow it.

I can't believe that Narron is still the manager.

Hell Baltimore fired Ripken Sr after 6 really horrible games (and about 15 bad ones to end the year in 1987) and that team ended up losing 107 games....Narron doesn't exactly have a future Hall of Famer son on the roster either.....

At this point, I just want them to keep losing until some heads roll. God willing, it will be soon; but if they have to lose every game between now and August for the leaders of this joke to get shit-canned, so be it.

Someone better be losing their job soon. The longer they continue to employ these ass-clowns, the angrier and more disenchanted I will become. Make it happen, you bastards.
