Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

That was a sCRAPPY bunt by Conine. :2004:

Just a horrible finsh to the game...We get the leadoff guy on after Cordero couldnt throw stikes and Conine pops the first pitch up trying to bunt and Dunn grounds into a DP...:( At this point it almost makes you want to feel bad for the team...It was making me mad at first, but this team just sucks and they can't do anything about it...The just lost a series to the Nats...

It was nice to see Belisle throw very good tonite...If not for some seeing eye singles that just seemed to find all the holes early and then if Ross blocks the plate more on that one play...

Can't ask for more than 7 innings of 4 run baseball...

Also nice to see the Bullpen throw 2 scoreless innings between Salmon, Cooter, and the Magic Man...These guys are the future of the pen and so far from them I have liked what I have saw...

Followed by Dunn hitting into a Casey. Gotta love it. I was explaining "The Trade" to my wife, she is now certain that the Reds are the most inept franchise on the planet. It is hard to argue with that. Yet I continue to watch and have hope for the future. Funny how the bullpen has been pretty good the last week and they still find ways to lose.

I know I seem to be in the minority of all Reds fan, but I still don't have a problem with the trade...

That trade, to some degree, did allow a spot/need for Josh Hamilton, FWIW.

If Magic Man and Bray can stay healthy they can be big cogs for this bullpen...

Also the one that no one talks about is Darryl Thompson, and while he is only in Sarasota right now he has been throwing very good this season after his promotion from Dayton when he won the picher of the month in the minors in his first month...

Besides this series it isnt like Kearns and Lopez have been lighting the world on fire...FeLo was only hitting .240 and Kearns is hitting good either...

And like you said we were able to take a chance on Hamilton and did get better defensively with Hamilton out there over Kearns and with Gonzo at SS if he ever starts playing with his head up his ass...Have to remember that he is having problems with his child at home, and his defensive numbers are the lowest they have been in his career...I feel that he will get back to normal, but I also think that he could be a trade piece, if they feel they have anyone they coudl feel in for him, but right now there isnt much in the minors, and unless we would move Bphil there, you can't really do that...I still think that they should of moved him there b4 this season and not went after Gonzo...Play Freel at second...Go Dunn/Hamilton/Griffey in the outfield with Hopper as the backup...

Then bring up Keppinger and he can be your utility guy that can play anywhere in the infield...

I pretty much feel it was the right move, poorly executed. The multiple blowups of the pen this year have only solidified that view in my mind. The Leatherpants take 3 of 4 and it doesn't get any worse unless... gasp... a sweep by the Buc-O's.

Congartulations Redlegs, you just lost 3 of 4 to a team that brought in this starting rotation for the series:

Levale Speigner
Matt Chico
Jason Simontacchi
Mike Bacsik

:frown2:

Seriously, I keep waiting for this course to reverse itself, and I thought a four game homestand against the Nats would do the trick. We really aren't this bad of a team are we? I keep telling myself that they aren't, but they are officially the worst team in baseball now, behind even Kansas City.

Yeah but you have to take into account that Bray and the Magic man have been hurt, and we havent really been able to see their value...
