Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

Narron is an idiot...I have learnt to expect the bad decision...I called that when it happened...And I also thought that he left Stanton in too long...

and Cooter in too long. He obviously didn't have his good stuff tonight (has pitched a lot the last few days). Salmon? Burton? I guess you don't want to use a K pitcher when you need a K if you are Narron.

The obligatory All-Star from the Cincinnati Reds this season will no doubt be Jr. He's absolutely smokin hot right now and everyone else is either going the other way or just trying to come out of a slump. Glad to see Ross is getting some of his pop back right now.

I haven't been watching lately because I just cant take it. I'm glad some of the AAA guys are getting into their groove right now also, it makes it easier for them to transition up here next month.

I feel ya. When Freel dove at the ball in shallow left center, the one in which he had absolutely no shot at catching, my friend said that it was a great idea, because the runner held up to see if indeed it would be caught, saving a run. I then said, nah, that just makes this 3-run shot from Lopez a grand slam, and we all saw what happened next :(

Griffey is playing lights out, but Phillips needs to be on that team too. Can a team this bad have 2 all stars? :!

That is when Narron should of went to the pen and brough Salmon into face FeLo...

He should've left Coffey in to start the inning. Pinch hitting for him the inning before with nobody on and two outs wasnt worth taking him out of the game. If he starts the next inning maybe those guys dont get on and Cout doesn't give up the granny. Either way its a crapshoot with our bullpen.

My problem is that Narron seems to always make the wrong call...If a guy is throwing good, and the pinch hitting situation isnt a chance where you are going to have the pitcher ruin a chance for a big inning then leave the guy in if he is throwing good...

It was unknown if Cooter would have good stuff tonight especially after appearing in the last 3 games I believe...

Also he needs to spread out appearances some...At this point I don't see any problem with putting Salmon and Burton in pressure type situations...Especialy on a night like tonight when they were seeing Sarloos who was not brining gas, guys like Salmon and Butron can bring that and that keeps the hitters off balance...I would of brought Salmon in when he was up in the pen, and then they decided on Stanton...

I don't have numbers, and it would be hard to calculate due to the pulling of more guys when they are throwing bad, but the more relievers used in a game I am sure that the number of runs given up goes up...We used 5 bullpen guys tonite...4 had good stuff, but it was that 1 that had bad stuff that killed us...I understand that we need them to go 4 2/3 innings, but that is a spot when you bring a guy in to go 2 innings or so after the starter goes down...If Salmon comes in and goes 2 innings then you could use 2 or 3 guys to finish the game, and you get out of the game only using 3 or 4 guys instead of 5...

I also don't think that Narron realizes that Stanton is a lefty specialist and not a guy that should be going an inning plus...

Absolutely. He never leaves a guy in more than one inning unless its Stanton or Weathers. Does have have no confidence whatsoever on the young guys or what. He needs to at least leave a guy in there for a full inning, unless he doesn't have it that night. Its almost like he has automated responses built in and cannont conceive of breaking his normal, jacked up , routine.

By God, it just hit me. Narron is Bowden's Mandroid! Somebody pull the freaking plug already!

Hell, let's just make it simple for him... If your pitcher loads the bases and is having trouble locating in the 8th/9th inning (Bronson in SD, Cooter last night), bring in someone else. Is it that hard? Some of his other calls are just bad luck or not wanting to burn the whole pen, like letting Stanton try to finish the inning. That's fine, but late in games, you can't dick around with a guy who doesn't have it... and it was clear to anyone watching last night that Cooter didn't have it. Cooter didn't pitch Sunday, but threw 1+ innings on Friday, Sat, and Mon. He's a rook and can't give him the Sullivan treatment.

These guys suck. They don't even seem to care that they suck. Between the CBJ and the Sucklegs, I have to be rooting for the most apathetic, uncaring bunch of SOB's in all of the fucking sports world.

At least I'm not a Michigan fan. :p

Unfortunately, you are exactly right my friend. If I ever have a girlfriend accuse me of not being loyal, I've got proof otherwise. It can't get any more loyal than watching this bullshit night after night. Am I just a glutton for punishment or what?

Yep. Wish I could just stop caring about these numbskulls and find a bandwagon to hop, but I just can't do it. :smash:

Once again, I'm with you. I have rooted for the Reds against every MLB team to this point, and there isn't a team out there that could catch my eye like these damn born losers have!:(:wink2::tongue2::!

Oh well. 1990 came and went, and I witnessed the whole damn thing. So at least I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Come to think of it, the Browns are my only favorite squad that have never kept up their end of the bargain, but at least this way I've got something to dream about. Back to the dreads....
