Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

Good win. Had to wonder if something was wrong with Bronson. Although after throwing a CG his last time out, not surprised he was flat. Every time I say to DFA Santos, he has a good outing. All I can say is, thank goodness I'm not a Nats fan.

Part of Arroyo's problem tonight was location.

He threw 62 pitches and only had 32 strikes. Not exactly the best of ratios......

I agree that Santos had a good outing and if he keeps it up, we could possibly be able to deal him in a trade for someone, not a top prospect by any means, but it would be better to get something back other than just releasing him...

Also have to like the intensity that Weathers showed to finish the game tonite, and the excitement the team showed in the dugout after Javy's homerun...I am just hoping that they turn this thing around to hvae a respectful season...

Like has been said a few posts before now, we are gonna win sometimes even by accident. A win like this over the Washington Nationals has me less than excited. A sweep might get my attention, but a winning streak is pretty hard to imagine right now. I'll believe it when I see it. I wish I had Johnny Drama's optimism, but I don't. If Narron stays, it ain't gonna happen, no matter what L'ville has.

Yeah, but the Nationals got most of the earlier runs by accident...the bloop double by Felo to open the game then the strike 3 call that should of been made, but was a walk, then the double that Hopper should of got too...

I am really hoping that the starters finsh the series for us well, and if they do I think that we could very well sweep these guys and honestly 2 of 3 from who ever it is is good for us at the moment...

Not quite, did you see the game?
That was some of the worst officiating I have ever seen.
As far as I'm concerned Ball to Strike ratio is irrelevant in this one.

Thespis has left the building?

In theatrical myth (or superstition), Thespis is said to exist now as a mischievous spirit, and when things go wrong in performances it is often blamed on his ghostly intervention. Like many superstitions, this belief ranges in different cases from being considered a humorous legend to being taken very seriously, with various charms and rituals being employed to either invite his approval or defend against him.

I was just wondering if he was feeling a twinge or something happened when he batted in the 2nd. From Josh on C. Trent's blog:

POSTGAME: Narron said he took out Arroyo because he was worried about his pitch count. He threw 129 against LA a few days back, and after Arroyo got to 62 after two inning, it was clear he wasn't going deep in the ballgame. So, Narron pulled him. It was curious that Arroyo batted in the second inning, but Narron said he knew Santos was coming in before that and he elected to have Arroyo hit in that spot instead of Santos. I guess you could make the claim that Narron didn't want to burn a pinch-hitter that early, and who knows if Hamilton was really available. Kind of weird for Arroyo to bat in that spot, though.

Arroyo said he had good stuff, but that he lost his head in the first inning and allowed it to snowball on him. Said he felt good physically. I don't know, though. Something felt a little weird in the clubhouse tonight. Special K asked Santos when he started warming up, and he said he had enough time to get ready. But the way he said it was just a tad strange.

Well EE is back up, but it is at the extent of Hamilton going to the DL...

I can just see it know, Narron will start Hopper in CF with Freel at 3rd or start Freel or Hopper in CF with Castro at 3rd...:!

I would hope this means EE is back in the lineup for good. I think the Hamilton to the DL move was the way to bring him back and keep Moeller around for at least a couple of more weeks. I wonder how long they would have waited if this opportunity had not come about? Castro should never be anything but a late inning defensive replacement and as many of you agree there isn't space on the roster for such a player.

Valentin's blast rescues Reds
Start of homestand has a happy ending
BY JOHN FAY | [email protected]
1x1.gif

Javier Valentin watched it. It curled around the foul pole, hit the steps above the bullpen and bounced out of the park.
Two-run homer, a 420-foot shot in the arm for a reeling ballclub.
The Reds had an 8-7 lead over the Washington Nationals and were three outs from their biggest and best comeback of the year.

Continued.....

Nice to see Griffey continue his hot streak and Ross get ahold of one...

At this point we are in position to win our first game of the year in which a 5th starter started the game...

Well Sarloos can't get the win, as Stanton gives up 1 in the 7th...

What a shock from Jerry! Saarloos bats for himself in the bottom of the fifth with 1 out. Runs out to the mound, gets an out and gives up a single in the top of the 6th and gets yanked. Completely out of character for Narron to waste that at-bat. :roll1:

Narron is an idiot...I have learnt to expect the bad decision...I called that when it happened...And I also thought that he left Stanton in too long...
