LOS ANGELES - The Reds waited until the end of spring training to decide between Matt Belisle and Bobby Livingston for the final spot in the starting rotation.
Belisle was awarded the spot and, with a 3-2 record and 3.45 ERA through seven starts this season, has shown he deserved it.
"He did everything this spring he could to make the club," Reds manager Jerry Narron said of Livingston. "It was just our feeling that Belisle was a little further along and deserved to make the club."

LOS ANGELES - Reds officials hoped Edwin Encarnacion would report for his minor-league assignment Thursday, and the third baseman did.
Optioned to Triple-A Louisville before the Reds played at Great American Ball Park, Encarnacion started at third base for the Bats on Thursday and went 2-for-4 with a run.
"It is very, very rare for a player to be sent out and report and play the very same day," Reds manager Jerry Narron said. "That says a great deal about Edwin Encarnacion."

These fuckheads are tracking to lose 94 games btw.

WK built it, Jerry runs it. Fire them both.

I know you hatred for WK, but the only part that should really be on him, is the pen, but you also have to figure in the fact that 3 of his big aquistions are on the DL right now, so he is doing the best he could with a makeshift pen right now...Honestly I like Salmon and his hard throwing arm, but he still needs to work on a second pitch...He a tard manager that throws the same guy out there every day...I read an article about how much these relievers are making know a days and it is hard for a small market team to contend in the free agent market for the highly regarded guys...So we need to build from within and with McBeth, Salmon, and maybe Pelland, we are trying to do that...Once Bray, majew, Guardado get back to go with Burton hopefully finding himslef, we might put together a better pen after we get rid of Stanton and Santos...

Hell, before the season, the bullpen wasn't a huge concern. Several comments about increased depth and having a decent number of young guys with strong arms. I'd love to see what these guys are capable of when used intelligently. I put a lot of the bullpen's issues on Narron.

My feelings as well...

Which makes the signing/extending of Cormier, Stanton and Santos all the more damming to me. Many called it a waste of money before he did it and its proven out that they were 100% correct.

WK has been the GM equivilant of what he criticizes EE for imo. He's shown some flashes but his overall game is inconsistent at best and he's in one hell of a slump right now. If I could send him to AAA to get his head together and decide if he wants to be a MLB GM I would.

He was forced to sign Santos with the way he threw in spring training and the injuries to Bray, Majew, and Guardado...

He also signed Burton who could be another hard throwing young arm that we need...

Cormier I don't understand, he had good numbers b4 he came here...I actually liked the signing at the time...So I guess he was just grasping for a straw there trying to get it to stick, the 2 year thing was stupid, that might of also been the only way to get him...

Same with Stanton he was looking for a guy b4 he had cout, and he was kinda desperate for that lefty and Stanton has had a good solid career, and he is below his norm this year, and early in the season he threw well, once again I think that Stanton should be your lefty specialist and not the guy that Narron trys to use him as and throw him out there every single day...

We have gotten rid of Cormier and I wouldnt be suprised to see the other follow, then if the bullpen is still struggling with the guys back from injuries and them gone, then we have a problem...

Every GM makes some bonehead moves, If Bray, Majew come back and become cogs in the rotation along with Thompson in A+ right now after a promotion, if he can pan out, we are talking about how that trade made us better...Right now it doesnt look good, but it allowed us to get better at SS in terms of defense and with Kearns still in the outfield I doubt that we make a run at Hamilton...

I agree that his grade is always in flux and could improve but with what we have to judge him on right now his overall body of work isn't that impressive.

I say fire him now when I'm pissed. I'd like to see where we stand at the end of his contract( end of '08 ). I also really want him to be the guy, because if he's not its just means we are that much farther away from being good again. Its just that a lot of red flags keep popping up that he is just another low cost, league average type like all the managers we rotate through.

Lets get a manager in here that knows how to manage and then we will decide on WK...

Bob C ain't going to let us keep losing, and I think WK is feeling some pressure as he is on the road trip, so lets hope that we get rid of Narron and then go from there...This team needs something, but I think WK has put some talent together and has built us for the future with some nice draft picks and he is rebuilding the minors slowly but surely...

Now we're getting to the heart of it. The question that follows is "who do we go after?" What managers are available that can actually do the job? What top notch manager would want to come to Cincinnati to manage these guys? I would hate for another interim guy come in just as we start winning and then low and behold, another Narron situation next season.

Is Sparky available?!:wink2:

We actually produced a run tonite...Phillips hit a ball that he stretched into a double...Then with the guy holding Phillips on at second Griffey hit the ball threw the wide open hole to score Phillips...

Of course Dunn didnt get the job done with guys in scoring postion and two outs...

I just wish they would put Dunn in the two hole and let him get on so other guys can drive him in and not make him the guy that has to try and do most of the driving in with guys like Keepinger or Castro protecting him...He isnt going to see many good pitches hitting there...

I mean if they wanted to they could pitch walk Hamilton like they did, pitch to Gonzo, walk Dunn or pitch around him and get Keppinger, Ross and Lohse...Not exactly anyone that is going to scare them...

Fucking Lohse, can't throw a strike to the GD pitcher. That's why you don't sign him to a long term deal.

I know what you are saying, but it was the 4th inning, just pitch to the # fuckin' 8 hitter, if you pitch around him that is fine, but don't just intentionally walk him...It isnt like we were going to win anyway...

Another bonehead move by Narron IMO, even tho Lohse should of stilll thrown strikes to get he pitcher out...

THe thing is they got 2 bloop hits and 1 infield hit...They werent really hitting Lohse hard the balls they were hitting were just falling, It just seems like the baseball gods are really against us right now, and no matter what we do we can't catch a break...:(

Nice to see Burton in here...Lets see how he does...
