Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

I was sitting right by the left field foul pole.

That Ensberg foul ball was about one singular FOOT from hitting the damned thing.

Some kid tried to breaks some ribs diving to get the ball over some seats too

Yeah, my friend and I were having a holy shit moment on that one too. We were down the right field line. Dunn ripped one foul over there that grazed of some stooge's hand and drilled a lady in the arm. Her arm swelled up like a fucking grapefruit in about 5 seconds. She toughed it out for almost a full inning before security carted her off to the med station. She came back down about an inning later screaming at Dunn "Is that all you've got?" Got to admire a tough old broad (she looked to be in her 50s).

It was a great day to be at the ball park. Great weather, good hitting, and a win! Now they go get their asses pasted on the left coast.

They are saying BL.

I fear Narron and WK have fucked EE's head up so bad he'll never recover.

Yep, looks like Livingston since Dumatrait pitched yesterday. From Trent's blog:

Oh yeah, Jerry said Sunday's starter will probably be Livingston or Dumatrait -- not Homer.

Jerry: "I'm not saying Homer's out of it, but we're going to keep him down there for a few more starts. Hopefully he'll continue to impress. I'm not going to get my hopes up for Homer quite yet. "

I have no problem with Livingston coming up...I would for him to man that 5 spot and do a good job, that would just allow us to dangle Lohse out there for trade bait...

It could also allow us to bring Dumatrait up later in the season and put him in the pen. That is the only thing could about the bullpen situation is that we have a couple guys that are close to be able to make an impact and be brought up and we have a couple guys coming back from injury that can make an impact...

Our pitching staff is very young and has a lot of potential, and the chance to be good for the next 5 years or so or even more...

I don't see any reason to bring Homer or Dumatrait up before June 1 and start the arb clock on them. This team's not going to win the pennant in the next 3 weeks.

Couldnt agree more...

I guess there isn't a particular date.

LINK
This site lays out the arb rules pretty good, with the relevant part being:

The final catch is the Super Two rule, which is applied to players with more than two years of service time but less than three. Each year, the top 17 percent of these players (in service time) also become arbitration-eligible -- adding millions to their salary, both that year and probably in the future. Because past salary is one of the factors in arbitrated salaries, reaching arbitration a year earlier will also boost a player's salary in all future years.

If Super Two status is to be avoided, generally it's best not to let a prospect accumulate as many as 130 days of service time before the end of the season.

There are 172 days possible and they are now 40 days in, so I guess it's not really that big of a deal.

Narron has completely outdone himself with tonights lineup.

Granted Freel was a late scratch but look at this shit:

Hopper cf
Phillips 2b
Griffey rf
Conine 1b
Gonzalez ss
Dunn lf
Castro 3b
Ross c
Arroyo p

NL HR leader hitting 6th with Juan F castro as his protection. :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:

I cannot believe it...

Why not put Dunn in the 2 hole with Griffey protecting him...Connie protecting Griffey isnt helping him either...I tell ya he seriously just picks names out of a hat...

It feels Narron gave up on this game before we even started it. Why is Hamilton on the bench? Griffey, Hamilton, Dunn. 3-4-5 in the order every night and figure the rest out. How hard is that to do? I can see Castro playing as a late replacement but damn!!

It is a great day to give Hamilton a day off, every 3rd day or every day a lefty throws...The kid is a going to be an everyday player for a lot of years, he is going to have to hit lefties, you might as well let him start doing it know...

what's worse: that lineup or the dodger play-by-play/color/random stupid facts announcer?

i didn't make it to Jr's single before i hit mute.

The lineup by far.

I love listening to Vin Scully. Geroge Grande has a lot to do with that.
