Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

I haven't been reading through the entire thread to see the arguments for keeping EE in the lineup everyday, but I don't hate this move. He needs to play everyday and get regular at bats to get the work in. So which do you prefer, let him go to AAA for two weeks to play everyday and work some things out, or keep him with the big club, where you know Narron won't be using him on a daily basis?

I am not saying this as an indictment on EE, but it's obvious Narron is unhappy with his play, so keeping him around on the bench and stunting his development wouldn't help him at all.

I agree that it may turn out to be in his best interest to get him every day playing time and to do it down there if it wasn't going to happen with the big club. I just hope Narron doesn't think this is his Rose to 3rd to get Foster in the lineup type move.

I really don't know a whole lot about Keppnger and if he is better than EE...IMO he isnt going to see time, and will just sit on the bench and if Narron plays a backup it is going to be Castro...He might see a PH attempt here and there...

I don't understand the reasoning behind not giving EE starts every day on the big club, I think Narron is a fuckin' idiot and can't wait for him to be gone...

Fuck I hate this organization...

I know I'm not the only one who realizes how ass-backwards it is to jerk around a player who could be one of the foundations of the future of the team to appease an incompetent and myopic manager.

Sad, but true.

If EE's struggles this year were affecting his confidence and threatend the kids overall future then I am ok with sending him down to get his head together.

If this was some kind of reaction to poor performance designed to teach him a lesson or if they actually think this helps the team then this FO is much worse off than even I had feared.

One things for sure, Freel at 3B everyday isn't a move that will help this team win more games.

I guess I should have also added to my post: "don't take anything I say as a pro-Narron stance"

Between the bullpen disaster/overuse, the different lineup every day despite being quoted DAILY on enquirer.com as saying he wants the lineup to be as consistent as possible, and the horrible managing when it comes to pinch hitting/double switch (that is legal Jerry!), I am with you guys in my disdain for how things are going.

Can't say I disagree with anything in this post...

I guess the love for Freel is just the fact that without him in there you don't have a lead off hitter...I like what Freel brings to the table, he is balls out all the time, but just like that double down the line either last night or 2 nights ago he should of made that play at 3rd, but he didnt...Even if he just knocks it down, a run doesnt score...

Freel is a utility guy that can start anywhere in the outfield or 2nd or 3rd, but his speed can also be valuable off the bench in the late innings.

I am interested to see what Keppinger brings to the table and if he is going to be able to help us or if he was just the guy they brough up to send EE down...

I liked what I saw from Cruz when he was up here for a week when Gonzo was gone...

6-0 after 2

This will be the obligatory 10 run outburst before they go get their teeth kicked down their throat on the west coast.

Either way it is nice to see them putting a pounding on the Stros after all these wins they have put up over us the past week...

Also nice to see Dunner and Griffey going yard...

It is b/c I am not watching...

Hopefully Harang goes the distance...

For sure.

Griff with a 2-run shot. Now 6-0 going to the third. Don't fuck it up, fellas.

Tuned in to 1230 about 10 minutes ago and Freel was at bat. Thought for sure we had just gotten to the bottom of the first. Ecstatic to be wrong about that.

Have I mentioned, "Don't fuck it up!"?

Krivsky backs Narron
BY JOHN FAY | [email protected]
1x1.gif

Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky today gave manager Jerry Narron a strong statement of support.
When asked if Narron's job was in jeopardy because of the team's recent swoon - the Reds have lost seven of eight entering today's game to drop into last place in the National League Central and trail Milwaukee by 10 games - Krivsky said firing Narron "is not even on the radar."
Making such a move this early in the season would be unusual. Jim Bowden?s infamous firing of Tony Perez came after 44 games. The Reds were only 34 games into the season entering Thursday's game against Houston.

Door open for Bailey promotion
Reds need starter with Milton on DL
BY JOHN FAY | [email protected]

The Reds have an opening to slip Homer Bailey in their rotation for a test run.
The 21-year-old, now at Triple-A Louisville, will be considered but is not a lock to join the Reds.
"I don't know," Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky said when asked about Bailey. "I haven't talked to the (Louisville) staff."
It's the first time the club hasn't publicly ruled out promoting Bailey.
The opening came when the club placed left-hander Eric Milton on the disabled list Wednesday with a sprained left elbow. Right-hander Jared Burton was brought back from his injury rehabilitation assignment, but he's a reliever.
