Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

BTW, per Narron on the pregame show, the only difference you might expect is that he plans to use Stanton to pitch the entire 8th and Weathers in the 9th. Santos, Saarloos, Coffey, and Salmon cover the 6th & 7th with Coutlangus as the lefty specialist. Wow, brilliant. He cited Stanton's closing with San Fran last year and his career numbers against righties as proof he can "get it done" in the 8th.

Well, the bullpen is in now, here we go...

Edit: WFT did numbnuts not double switch with the pitcher spot due up 3rd. Saarloos makes quick work and should be out there for the 7th.

Everytime I want to feel sorry for the dumb bastard about having such a suck ass team given to him by WK he does something completely idiotic and pisses me off again.

It won't make the team any better but WK needs a warning shot imo.

I don't know if you read John Fay's blog before the game, but Bob C was on the field before the game and had a talk with WK. Fay said he didn't want to talk to him and said to see him when he's "feeling better." Sounds like he is none too pleased. LINK

It's pretty bad when Welsh starts second guessing you (pulling Saarloos).

Sad but true. Shouldn't have pulled him.

Now what? Is he pinch hitting for everbody?

Coffey actually had one of his better innings this year last inning. Why do that? When a guy's got his stuff working that night you should ride him out. Quit moving people around like chess pieces and just let 'em play once in a while. This crap is making me sick.

Can't say he would have done any better, but if he gets you to Berkman, then you can bring in Cout to turn him around and still have Salmon to face Lee. But I guess that makes too much sense.

Edit: no prob here with hitting for Coffey, I thought he should have had the night off to begin with. With his use, his arm is going to fall off before the All-Star break.

Yes I did and like I said over at RZ, I hope thats the shot across the bow to the good ship Krivsky I have been hoping for. He simply has to carry some of the weight for this fucking bullpen.

I am about to give up on this team and we arent even half way thru May yet...

This is an early end to the season even by Reds standards. They are tracking to lose 90 games as of right now and thats with the starters pitching out of their minds and no significant injuries.

This could turn into a 100 loss season folks, no exaggerating.

Yeah, and it's even scarier when you consider that the only really good team they've played so far is Milwaukee. They're gonna see a lot more of them, plus they're gonna play the Dodgers, Giants, Braves, Mets & Indians. In other words, this could get a lot worse before it gets better.

I know...

The only thing I am hoping for is the fact that the bullpen can't get any worse...There are some arms on the way with Bray, Majewski, Burton(unless we send him back to Oakland), Guardado, and maybe a guy like McBeth.

If the Starters continue to pitch the way they have minus Milton we will start winning games...They are just pitching to well for us not to...

Also our offense has seemed to pick it up and if EE ever starts hitting with the consistency he is capable of we will start putting up good offensive numbers...I would also like to see a guy like Hamilton either in front of or behind Griffey, so that way one of those guys can protect the other...

Honestly at this point I don't mind Dunn in the 6 hole b/c of the way he is just not getting it done...

??? Dunn is right at or even a little above his career averages, which is pretty good considering that mini-slump he had following the back spasms. He is also looking to drive the ball the other way more often, which is encouraging. My frustration is that by batting him in the 6, he does not get as many plate appearances. Since moving him there, I would say there have been no less than 5 games where the game ended with him on deck or in the hole. He's your guy with the most potential to end it on one swing, by putting him further down in the order he gets fewer of those opportunities. Even if he doesn't get a jack, he is likely to walk and extend the inning. I still think he permanently belongs in the 3 spot where his OBP will not go to waste.
