Narron (pronounced mor-on in my house) .

Glad to know its not just my house.

I agree with you guys about a healthy Hermanson over stormy Weathers or Stanton but I just have zero faith in the healthy part.

A topic for another day but I am of the school that says use your best reliever(Coffey) for the crucial situations regardless of inning. The real need is to put the fire out vs the meat of the order in the 7th or 8th most times and anyone can go close the 9th (see Danny Graves and his 30 some odd saves before the AS break a couple of years ago) vs the bottom of the order and pinch hitters. Bottom line as with most things SABR, its seems odd on the surface but the Save stat is one that is massively overused and overpaid for. I want my bullpen guys to have great K rates and low BB rates.

If you can get a few heathly months out of Hermanson and he gets some easy saves you trade his ass as quick as you can to a GM that is wont to overpay for that stat before the clock strikes 12.

What I don't get about Milton is, why does he have to be the #3 starter? I know his contract is one of MLB's worst ever, but c'mon! Put him at #5 and let Lohse, Sarloos and Belisle battle for 3 and 4. If we cant get rid of his ass at least make sure he isnt pitching every week against other clubs #3 or higher.

The bullpen continue to be outstanding. Coutlangus hasnt given up a run this ST and Burton and Coffey continue to get everyone out. It actually looks like our starters should only have to go 6 innings. If we could do that most of the year we'd be looking at some really healthy arms for the race at the end.

Griffey sees no wrong in right
Planned move from center field 'no big deal,' Reds star says

BY JOHN FAY | [email protected]

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Two days after the Reds announced to the world he would move to right field, Ken Griffey Jr. said:
"It's no big deal."
Others would beg to differ. Griffey, after all, won 10 Gold Gloves as a center fielder. When he has played in the field, he has played 2,113 games in center, two games in right and two games at first base.

Milton says tough outing no cause for alarm

BY JOHN FAY | [email protected]

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Eric Milton is usually as hard on Eric Milton as anyone. But he was not particularly down after a rough outing Wednesday in the Reds' 5-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins.
Milton gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits in five innings.
"I was a lot better in the fourth and the fifth," he said. "In the first three innings, I felt like I was close to pitching well."

I was listening to Lance McCallister on his sports radio program here in Cincy last night and he had the perfect argument: It's bad enough that they gave him the contract, but do you have to keep running him out their every 5th day to prove it? If they send Burton back to Oakland just to keep him on the roster, then I'll have a major issue with the Red's staff. You just don't give away someone with his stuff to keep around a total stiff... even if he is a 9 million dollar stiff. Marty and Jeff have been ripping Lohse a new one today. Quote from Jeff: "He likes to pitch either way ahead or way behind." Marty: "That should tell you something right there." Jeff: "Exactly." Thought that was really funny. Jeff's main point was that if he keeps running the count to 3-2, he's not going to make it out of the 5th very often.

Hey guys I just joined a fantasy keeper league. Do you think it would be a good to pickup Josh Hamilton with my last pick. Reason being he is young and has a ton of upside and I could keep him for years to come. Or do you think it would a wasted pick?

I'd take him for a keeper league but its the same risk as the real world. IF he stays clean you've got a steal. If not a wasted pick, but considering its your last pick I'd say its a very good risk/reward.

Al Behrman Associated Press Reds outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. says he still has some pain in his injured hand when taking batting practice.

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Ken Griffey Jr. didn't want to talk about his move to right field yesterday, insisting it's no big deal. His reluctance to discuss it suggested something entirely different.

Manager Jerry Narron also dodged the subject of his outfielder-on-the-move. Best to leave that subject alone for now.
They won't be able to avoid it much longer.

Reds' Hamilton stays grounded
Despite possibility he may be Opening Day right fielder
BY JOHN FAY | [email protected]

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Josh Hamilton didn't know what his batting average was going into Friday's game with his old team, Tampa Bay.
"What is it?" he asked.
".457," he was told.
"Thank you," Hamilton said.
"It's not bad," he was told.
"It sure has dropped a lot," Hamilton said. "I better get going."

Saw an article where Jerry talks about batting Phillips 3rd and Dunn 6th just to keep the R-L-R-L thing in order.

The Reds don't have the talent to suffer a fool at the manager position.

Narron gets his way with Jr.
Reds Insider
BY JOHN FAY | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

SARASOTA, Fla. - Jerry Narron won. The Reds manager got Ken Griffey Jr. on the field and playing right field in time to have him out there for Opening Day.
That was the objective all along.
I'm not going to pretend to know all that went on behind closed doors, but Griffey's assertion that the switch from center field to right field was no big deal is horse hockey.
