Ahh, 1 hour from the trade deadline and nothing of note to report. Conspiracy theories abound as to why no deals. Rumors range from WK trying to keep the best team on the field to give Pete Mack a chance to "win" the manager job for next year to LaRussa/Jockerty are coming after the season and Bob C wants to give them the opportunity to make over the team. I think it is more of a slow market kind of year and WK just isn't getting much value offered his way. Maybe someone panicks and we get lucky.

They used the slow market excuse for WK this past offseason as well.
When confronted with many confusing possible scenario's I apply Ochams Razor and just go with the theory that he's incompetent.

I'm sticking with that one untill he proves otherwise(he won't).

Alex Gonzalez is back from bereavement and Elizardo (Spanish for "The Lizardo") Ramirez has been called up. I'm glad to see Ramirez back - I think he's a serviceable option for the back end of the rotation.

Juan Castro goes back to the "disabled list" :wink2: to make room.

Well, the Reds did make one trade today...

They "traded" Chad Moeller to Louisville for Mark Bellhorn. Leave it to the Reds to trade with themselves and still come out losers.

EDIT: Looks like all of the people with a trade fetish are getting restless over on RZ. It's amazing how bad some people wanted to see some useful players traded for scraps just for the sake of making a move.

Yes, Jax, I'm now moving to your side. Occam's Razor does appear to apply here. To go into this deadline and to come away with Matt Maloney tells me that this FO has no clue. Mark "bleepin" Bellhorn is now on the roster? I'm so excited I'm about to jump out of my skin! Maybe they wanted to bring up someone who might strike out at a higher rate than Dunn. I honestly don't see how they expect to compete next year short of some major unexpected changes this offseason.

I wanted to see all of our tradeable parts moved for a fair return.

The fact that our GM decided to stand pat makes me sick.

They keep finding new ways to make being a Reds fan a lot harder than it should be.

Ughhh....Hey, something I was thinking about as the Washington F'n Nationals bat around in the 5th....For any single Reds fans, of which I am one myself, looking to someday convince the ol' gal to get hitched....

I would think that mentioning that you are a die-hard Reds fan should gain you a lot of 'points.' If that doesn't just scream loyalty, then I guess I'm not sure what does :!
