Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

Homer will start on Friday and will wear #34 per Red's press release from Rob Butcher today. Hope he has a tremendous debut. The scouting report on him kind of reminds me of another #34, Kerry Wood, when he came up. I was at his 20K game and man, he had electric stuff. I don't think I've ever seen anyone throw like Wood did before the injuries. Hopefully, Narron doesn't pull a Baker with him.

I wonder if they will have him on a strict pitch count...And if they don't they should...No reason to waste his arm this year when they are out of the race...

I really hope that he has a great debut, but I am still on the side of the fence that would of rather of seen him stay down a little longer and would have Livingston up here right now...

Only a couple of things I want to see happen the rest of this year.

1) Even though I'm a huge supporter of Griffey, I want to see him traded to a contender. He deserves a championship as much or more than anyone in baseball right now.

2) Please, God, don't let Hamilton, Bailey, Harang, Arroyo, Phillips or Encarnacion get badly hurt. Minor injuries will happen but a major injury in this type of shit season can ruin a career.

After that I don't give two shits anymore. These guys just kill me.

OK, so, can they finally get over the myth that Santos is worth a damn? Can they get rid of Stanton for anything? Will Lohse/Dunn/Hatte land the Reds some key pieces for the future? (I think with the Rocket going down, the Yanks would salivate over Lohse).

Kyle Lohse isn't going to be a centerpiece of any trade in the near future and if he is, that GM might be as dumb as Krivsky is........

He's a young MLB average starting pitcher with plus stuff, people are always going to be intrigued by that. He has value, not a top shelf guy but he has value.

He's 29, meaning he is in his pitching prime right now....

He's never had plus stuff. His early career was helped by playing in the Metrodome but he wasn't even in their starting rotation when the Reds acquired him last year..........

He had one decent year (2002) and one mediocre one (2003) and that's that. Those weren't horrible Twins teams he was playing on either.

If Kyle Lohse is your main bargaining chip it should illustrate how bare the cupboard truly is.

No doubt about the cupboard being bare but his stuff has been whats kept him in the league this long. People are always hoping he'll finally turn it around and 29-30 is the age when a lot of pitchers do it.

He's always been an enigma in that he has great stuff but just melts down from time to time. Always that one big inning or bad start. He's capable of a complete game gem or a 1 1/3 stink bomb.

All that said, a contender will pay for MLB average production from a SP. Pitching is just at an ungodly premium right now, even just average pitching.

Lohse won't be on any of the contenders teams come fall unless something drastic happens. The last time he was in the AL he got rocked and he's struggling in the NL right now.

Crazier things have happened when contending teams feel they need to make a move...Lohse has put together 2 good starts in a row and started the season very nice as well...It was the in between where he struggled...

I think the outings against Washington and LAD are more telling though.....

But you never know. It will have to be a pretty good sell job.

The trade deadline is the best time to sell tho, b/c teams will overpay for and reach at times...hell we went reaching last year for bullpen help...

I am sure the Phillies didnt think they were going to get anything for Cormier, and I am sure that the Nationals didnt think they were going to get what they did for majewski and bray...

I might have to go to the game on Friday. I'm in the camp of people who would rather see Bailey stay in the minors the rest of the season. Since he's gonna be in Cincy though, I guess I'll have to see what all the fuss is about.

Plus, they're giving away Bronson Arroyo Mullet Caps, which will go nicely with my Ryan Freel Poopy Shirt from earlier in the year.

I won't be attending but I will be locked in to the tv...

Bailey will be facing a very tough lineup, I am hoping for something around 6 innings of 2 run baseball with 5k's and 1 BB...

-Tracking to lose 102 games and 11.5 out on June 5th in the weakest division in baseball. Someone should already have been fired.

-Narron goes through the whole pen again but won't use MacBeth

-Marty and Thom said they both felt Norris Hopper should be the starting LFer and that Dunn only plays because of the contract.:shake::shake:

Anyone who gives those two an ounce of credibility after that needs to have their head checked.
