I heard the Astros announcers compare the NL Central to a twit race last night. Flying circus fans know what thats all about, I was rolling.

(The "race for those with no sense of direction" would apply nearly as well, except that it desn't end in suicide.)

Don't look now but we have just had 2 complete games in a row and an 8 inning performance from the other...

We are only 8.5 games back...I bet Bestbuck36 is just full of optimism now...

Yeah, wishful thinking. Hey we got a verbal from Andrew Sweat today and Lebron James had one of the most amazing basketball games I've ever seen in the Cavs win. Overall it was a great sports day so fuck the Reds anyway!:tongue2:

Now your coming around...

Too bad these sports that we are watching now will be over with in a couple weeks, and the only thing we will have is the dreads to try and hold us over till football season...

Funny thing with me is that it really doesn't matter to me if it is a winning year or not. I still watch/listen every night I can and go to the ballpark when I get a chance. I kind of like it in a way when they are out of it early in the year, because then I can buy cheap seats and sit where I want. I know, selfish.

Despite all the losing, it has been great to see a healthy Griffey and what he can still do and Hamilton has been fun. Can't wait until he is back. We should also look forward to the debuts of Homer and Votto later this year. Oh, and no more Uncle Milty. I realize you guys all know this stuff but felt like being positive for a moment. :wink2:

Excellent outing by Livingston tonight. JR goes yard once again and it looks like Hamilton will be back by the weekend. He's been killing AAA pitching during his rehab assignment. Still waiting for someone to step up in the bull pen.

Cooter. He's been an overall pleasant suprise so far this year. Looked real good lately. As far as Reds pitchers go that is.

BTW instead of getting a game in at Coors on Sunday when he's eligible, the FO has decided to bring Hamilton back after the day off in St Louis on Tuesday.

Not sure I see the logic but with WK and company I can't say I expect much anymore.

At this point Livingston has earned the #5 spot...

He threw well in ST, and he has thrown well in his first two starts...I am still wondering the reasoning for taking him out there in the 7th...

He had been throwing great and then he gave up a bloop single to right field and out comes Narron...

With all this said, it is nice to see all these young guys doing some good things, it leaves a blip of hope for the future...

Especially the way that Votto and Bailey are tearing it up in AAA right now...

As for Votto coming up, what do you guys think of bringing back hatte next year if they feel they can compete and using him as a pinch hitter off the bench and some spot duty at first base, when Votto needs a day or starts slumping some...Hatte is a great professional and will always give you good atbats...This is of course if someone doesnt want to give us something at the trade deadline for him, anything is better than nothing...Same with conine...

Also my big hope for the season is that Lohse can put together some more good outings in a row, and some team comes calling at the deadline for him, and overpays in terms of prospects, maybe a catcher or a SS and then we can bring up Bailey in that spot, and have a rotation of Harang, Arroyo, Bailey, Belisle, Livingston...

They may take their lumps some the rest of the season, but that is a great young core with some a formidable ace, and a very solid rotation...That is enough to compete in the central, with the young guys throwing well in the pen with Cooter, Salmon, Burton, hopefully Bray sometime soon to go with the Magic Man, Guardado, and Weathers, to go along with guys like Medlock and Pelland who are putting up great numbers in AA and might be up by the end of the year this year for an apperance or two but will for sure compete for spots in the pen at the beginning of the season next year...

If we can pull off some deals at the trade deadline, and stock the minors some to go with a good solid draft to follow up last years, I think we might just be some what on the right track...

The only thing is this team as it is right now isnt built to compete...

Also if we could trade Dunn, but if we are going to do that I would like to see a C or SS and some sort of pitching that are about major league ready...

Hopper has shown me that he can can play very solid defense, and man the leadoff spot...

I really think that with Hamilton's arm that he could be a great in RF down the road and with Hopper and Freel in CF and with Bruce looming down the road in 2 years ago we have some solid of's, that allow us to deal Dunn and Griff if we can...

Is that optimism I hear?! Careful 40 you're starting to sound like me. Just beware the meltdown, hehe.

I totally agree though with about all you just said.

First, regarding Hatteberg. I love that guy. You know exactly what you are getting with him, day in and day out. Over this pile of crap called a season he has just been steady plugging along at his .300 clip and playing solid defense. I would say unless the offer is just too good to pass up, keep him next season and deep six Conine.

Second, regarding Hamilton. We're playing in the most hitter friendly ballpark in the history of MLB and the FO is leaving him down in AAA until Tuesday? WTF? Coors Field is the place where hitters go to build their confidence. With Hamilton back and Griff swinging the way he is, the meat of our order could be dangerous if Narron doesnt fuck up the lineup everyday. Yeah you're right. Fat chance.:(

Thirdly, I'm all for bringing up the young guys but only to let them contribute. Knowing these dumbasses they'll bring them up to sit the bench or send down someone who actually needs playing time. If Conine is still here after the All-Star break we've absolutely no hope of ever seeing a winning team in Cincinnati again. Don't get me wrong about Conine, he's contributed some this season. If he's still here though when the call ups start that means someone else on the roster isn't here and thats more than likely not going to be a good thing. Castro, Conine and Moeller are the only ones we can get rid of on the infield. At the moment we have no spare parts in the outfield. If we bring up Votto and infielder must go. I would vote for Moeller or Conine first. I know Castro cant hit but he can play 3 infield positions in case of injury. He also hasn't complained as far as I know about playing time so let him sit there if he's content- for now. The 3 catcher thing has to stop. Moeller isnt giving us anything unless one of the other catchers gets hurt. Bring Votto up and lose Moeller. DFA or trade Conine. Hopper, Hamilton, Griffey, Dunn and Freel should be our outfielders unless one gets traded. If thats the case bring Bruce up here and give him the trial by fire when the other guys need their day off.

The pitching staff is an enigma. Lately the starters have been outstanding except for Arroyo. Lets hope he isnt losing interest or faith in the ballclub and going in the tank for the rest of the year. Frankly, I couldnt blame him if he did. Like was previously mentioned, there is some bullpen help on the way. Coutlangus has been very solid. Bray and Guardado can eat up innings. If Coffey's head clears up we could be 5 deep in the bullpen which is a huge if. Salmon needs more innings and Burton needs his shot as well. I wouldn't mind Dumatrait getting a shot later on either, either in the bullpen or starting and letting Livingston get some relief. Having 2 solid lefties in the rotation would be a nice change from the Reds norm. Harang, Arroyo, Bailey, Livingston, Dumatrait would be pretty nice if we could pull that off. Can Belisle close games? I'd give him a shot if no one else can step up and do it. Right now we need him as the #3 but when Bailey gets up here it might be worth a look. Just grasping at straws here. Not much to hold onto at the moment.

Hey I was just thinking and rewatching the Cubs meltdown from today. Anyone think we could get Piniella back? Lets start some kind of campaign to get sweet Lou back in the dugout. He'd sure as hell show some emotion in front of this ballclub and keep us entertained.

I think that it only points to Bailey coming up...

I still don't think he is ready he had a decent outing tonite after a bad first inning after the game got moved up to 6:30 instead of 7...But he did hit 97 on the gun for the first time this season...He just seems like the type of guy that throws better once he gets some innings under him...

I don't understand why this organization doesnt like Livingston but he has given us two very good starts and he is the only pitcher who has pitched in the 5th spot in the rotation to get us a win all season...

God I hate this organization!:teeth:

They don't know if they're coming or going at this point. Pathetic.

I know they don't seem to ever have any sort of plan with their young guys, they have drug EE around, and now they are doing the same to Livingston...He has pitched great, and I understand he doesnt have that power stuff, but he gets outs, and did a great job...

I just hope they don't piss with Bailey...I still think they need to leave him in Louisville for a while and bring him later in the season, he still needs a little more time in Louisville, I think they are rushing him and they think he is the savior for this piss poor season...
