RB Trey Sermon (2020 B1G CCG MVP, Indianapolis Colts)

Yesterday, we got a reminder of what great Ohio State running backs look like. The lateral cuts, fluidity at the hips, acceleration. Not to diminish Teague or Sermon, it is something that we really have not seen this year. Winning the national championship will depend on Ohio State's best back being on the field and playing a prominent role in the remaining games.
Yes and will throw in that to beat the big boys, we will also need the legit threat of QB run and QB scramble.

I think we have possibly run into the same problem we had when weber/dobbins we're sharing carries. Each back took every other series, how are you going to get in a groove if it's 20+ minutes between carries? I understand wanting to keep guys fresh, but it seems each should have a role, not just playing every other series regardless of the game situation.

Just my .$02.

I think the last game showed the staff that they should ride with Trey to a larger extent.
I don't think you can continue to share carries 50/50 when I guy just set the program single game rushing record

TWEET OF THE WEEK. It ain't often a Tweet scrolls across my feed that causes me to audibly laugh, but I have to say, this one got me.

Straight up, I'm going to tell my kids about that game. It was the single most incredible and unexpected individual performance I've ever seen.

And here the thing – obviously, it's a statistical anomaly, but maybe not as much as you might think. Because he actually put up comparable numbers against Michigan State, as well, he just had fewer carries.

Sermon finished the Northwestern game with 331 yards on 29 carries, averaging 11.4 yards per carry. Against Michigan State, he had 10 carries for 112 yards, averaging 11.2 yards per carry.

So... Maybe this is just who he is now? I'll just go ahead and pencil him in for 11.6 yards per carry against Clemson. That seems reasonable.

If there's no threat of a pass game, Clemson will gobble Sermon up behind the line of scrimmage. Fields has too much talent to play the way he is playing, and what's going on between the ears concerns me more than the thumb. Here's hoping Fields gets back to who he is, so that Sermon can get a fair shake against Clemson.

I'll offer the idea that it took Trey a while to learn the tendencies of the Buckeye offensive line and where the holes would appear. He's improved immensely over the past couple of games.

Just another example of how the loss of spring football and early season cupcakes hampered development of this team.
Also I believe he was hurt last year so coming back from injury as well

Yes, it was season ending knee injury.

Oklahoma loses key contributors in RB Trey Sermon, DL Kenneth Mann for the season to injuries
Nov 11, 2019
No. 10 Oklahoma survived a late scare from Iowa State when Parnell Motley picked off Cyclones quarterback Brock Purdy on a two-point conversion attempt in Week 11. It came with a cost, though. Coach Lincoln Riley announced Monday that running back Trey Sermon and defensive lineman Kenneth Mann will miss the rest of the season with injuries.

Sermon injured his left knee late in the second quarter after a 14-yard run -- his lone carry of the game. The 6-foot, 216-pound junior has rushed for 385 yards and four touchdowns this year alongside quarterback Jalen Hurts and fellow running back Kennedy Brooks. His injury will put more pressure on Brooks and Hurts to provide the bulk of the rushing attack, and elevate junior Rhamondre Stevenson (370 yards, five touchdowns) to a bigger role.

Sermon was one of the primary pieces of the Sooners offensive puzzle during last year's run to the College Football Playoff. He rushed for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns, and topped the 100-yard mark four times.
