RB TreVeyon Henderson (Official Thread)

I don't think the only question is can any team stop 20+ carries of TH. But can teams take 20+ carries from TH, while also having to handle another 20+ carries from the likes of Williams, Teague and/or Crowley? And then still have to worry about the passing game.
I mean Oregon kept us out of the endzone but 600+ yards later... as long as CJ looks like he did last week in the RZ I don't see how we don't score 35+ in every game remaining.

Such is the boom or bust nature of a HC as aggressive as Ryan Day. We went 0-4 on 4th downs inside Oregon’s 35. But we also went 0-0 on FGs despite Ruggles appearing to have the accuracy and leg to have at least attempted some of them. He’d only have needed to hit 3/4.

Meh. I know what you're doing and won't complain too much. But if Ohio State makes field goals instead of unsuccessful fourth down attempts, it's changing the game. Oregon might have made different playcalls, and Ohio State might have made different playcalls. The situation changes. Butterfly effect and all.

But I get your point. Tressel's teams would attempt those field goals. Meyer's and Day's teams aren't so quick to settle for field goals. "Boom or bust" explains it very well. Find something to hold on to and try to hang on. It's a bouncy ride.

While I agree that they needed to be better in the RZ and could’ve elected to kick FGs….they still had to play defense and get stops. When OSU finally got stops in the 4th, how much of that was Oregon trying to play safe?

Just think, prior to this year he only played RB for one year and that was in his Junior season in HS. Due to Covid he did not play his Senior year. Prior to that he was a WR in HS. That's why he is so good at getting open and catching the ball out of the backfield. He has also proven to be a good blocker in pass protection and with one exception holds onto the ball as well.
And this is only 6 games into his Freshman season where he hardly played in the first game. Plus he is only averaging 11 carries a game. At this pace he will be fresh down the stretch when we play the two teams up north and Iowa in the Championship game and into the playoffs.

Damn, didn't realize he was a WR before his junior year. It's extremely impressive he's doing this without playing last year, even moreso when he's only played the position one season prior.
