RB Miyan “Chop” Williams (Official Thread)

Definitely like getting Miyan some rest even if he could go. Henderson shredded it and gave Teague plenty of time to shine. Even bigger in my eyes is that Crowley got some really valuable reps and looked good as well. Going legit 4 deep is going to pay off in a huge way down the road, and Miyan will be part of that.

You’ve all missed the most important thing regarding RBs that happened in the Butgers game. We ran a play with a FB… and he scored… albeit on a passing play, but when’s the last time we had a real FB? Borden?

LOL. Yes, it’s an embarrassment of riches.

Yeah, it probably was Zach Boren (2009-2012); but he converted to linebacker midway through his Senior season.

Obviously Henderson is the star and the feature back, but I need to see Chop getting some of the short yardage carries.
Not to dismiss Henderson's abilities, but Williams seems to me to get more YACs and turns more "short runs" into 15 - 25 yard runs. Of course, once Henderson hits an open space it's off to the races time, but IMO he also goes down quicker in short situations. It's a nice problem to have. And both can catch the pass and do something with it.

I remember having the exact same thoughts about Dobbins early on. Seemed like a lot of ankle tackles would get him down. After some offseasons of S&C he was breaking more tackles. Also think confidence in running helps with that as well. Expect Henderson to be the same with more top end. Going to be fun to watch.

“It’s a lot of ups and downs like a roller coaster,” Williams told Eleven Warriors before participating in an autograph session on Saturday. “But you just gotta keep faith and keep going. That’s what I did.”

Williams said his family has helped him keep his head up when he’s gotten frustrated.

“I remember who I do it for,” Williams said. “No matter how I’m feeling, they just continue to push me.”

“It’s been really fun,” Williams said of playing for Ohio State. “Getting to play next to my teammates that I call my brothers now. So it’s just been fun. It’s been a journey. It’s not finished yet. Gotta keep going.”

When you think of all the hits an RB takes, especially in pass pro when called upon to stop a runaway moose, it's no wonder their playing life is so short. Maybe Day's penchant for passing first coupled with giving both backs PT will lead to a longer run in the pros for both.
