RB Miyan “Chop” Williams (Official Thread)

Not sure how many touches Barn Childress got in his 4 year spring game career but he'd be the only contender to the crown I can think of.
He actually had a solid average of 6.0 yards per carry over his 4-year career. On a single carry (The Game, 2003).

He also had 33 receptions for 392 yards, 7 kickoff returns for 107 yards, and a 2-yard punt return. He didn’t get into the end zone.

Ohio State RB Miyan Williams doesn't want to be called 'meatball'

Ohio State running back Miyan Williams has worked through fall camp to make sure he’s not forgotten in Buckeyes loaded running back rotation. What he does want forgotten, is his nickname.

Williams has been affectionally referred to as ‘Meatball’ by his Ohio State teammates and coaches. He doesn’t want the nickname to stick, as he told Lettermen Row on Wednesday.

“To be honest I don’t,” Williams responded when asked if he likes the ‘Meatball’ identity. “I don’t like the name. I’d rather be called ‘Chop’. Because Baron Browning gave me the nickname, started calling me ‘Pork Chop’ so I just kind of stuck with it.”

‘Chop’ is entering his second season with the Buckeyes. As a freshman, Williams saw just ten touches and had 64 total yards.

At 5-foot-8, 225 pounds, Miyan Williams is built in the mold of a downhill back. But, in the limited touches he received as a freshman, he surprised in the showing off some speed, and even a “little bit of wiggle”.

YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY. I verily enjoyed watching the running back who was once went by the nickname "Fat Man" outrun an entire defense for 71 yards as he strolled untouched into the end zone.

Turns out, the entire play was just a happy accident, and now I enjoy it even more.

With that in mind, let's roll the tape.

The ultimate "misdirection play". New nickname: Miyan "Wrong Way" Williams....

At this point, the RB rotation needs to be a 1-2 punch of Williams and Henderson. Teague wasn't bad, but he should be the 3rd option, IMO. Which is what many of us predicted in the off season. Williams is a beast. I can see the Hyde comparison, but not sure who else to compare him too in the OSU past. If I had to compare him to anyone else not OSU, it would be Lendale White or Marion Barber III

He reminds me a little of college Jerome Bettis to be honest. I don't think there is any good OSU comp. Maybe a little Scottie Graham from the late 80's?

To me, I think Miyan's his own cat stylistically. And I love the way he totes the rock

Also, nothing against Ibrahim because he played excellent against us. But in that same vein, I don't think Miyan got anywhere near enough love during that broadcast and in the news this morning as he should have. 125 yards on 9 carries. 13.4 yards per carry (almost 2.5x more yards per carry than Ibrahim). Dude was a monster for us last night and started that game out for us right
