RB Michael Weber (New Jersey Generals)

IMO, everyone needs to calm down. If it's fair that Weber took a "secret" visit to Michigan and could've committed to Michigan as a result, then it seems it's fair for a position coach to move on to greener pastures after commitment. If you think a position coach (even at reigning national champs OSU) is a destination job, well, that's just not reality.

No, it's the kid's life. No recruit makes or breaks a program. Hell, when he committed he listed trust as a big reason why. So much for that.

So this will be my last comment on this matter:

No one except Weber, his family and Drayton, maybe Urban know what was said or had been said between them. We'll never know whether or not he told them leaving is a possibility or not. Kids upset, I get that which leads people to think things went down in a shady way. Maybe they did or maybe they didn't. We'll never know. I'd like to believe that Stan & Urban aren't those type of people but really who knows.

@Jagdaddy The cass tech coach was the one pushing him to go to scum... I don't think he would change his tune regardless if this had happened - he wants his kids at scum with his bud harbrau.

The ugly business of recruiting. I feel bad for Mike but at the same time, I would encourage him to look to the bright side and the fact that tOSU will hire a very good RB coach that he may end up liking better than Drayton anyway. I don't think you really get to know your coaches that well during recruiting anyway. Not your real coaches LOL. I was really impressed with my position coach and he was one of the reason I chose the school I did and four years later I couldn't stand the lying sack of crap. Coaches put on a different face during the recruiting process. Sure you can get a feel and an idea what kind of person they are, but you never really know until you get there and they pretty much own you at that point. Kind of like when you put that ring on your fiances finger. All you married guys, you know what I am talking about. And I actually married a good one.

Not that I agree with the practice, but....

Apparently, UCLA DC Jeff Ulbrich likes Georgia...a lot. After landing an announcement from 4* LB Roquan Smith who hails from Macon County HS in Montezuma, GA, but, before Smith's LOI has been received by UCLA, FoxSports.com is reporting that Ulbrich has been hired to coach linebackers for the Atlanta Falcons.

Thursday afternoon, the suddenly outspoken father of CeCe Jefferson has told Rivals national director Mike Farrell a slew of reasons that his son's National Letter of Intent still hasn't been faxed in to the Gators — and, having gotten enough mileage out of teasing Twitter sufficiently, Rivals has thrown those quotes in a story rather than behind a paywall.

Let's run down the allegations.

  • The Jeffersons didn't know that Terrell Williams was leaving. Leo Jefferson says that that Florida coaches failed to inform the family of defensive line coach Williams's impending departure to the same position with the Miami Dolphins.

In addition to signing 24 players in the Class of 2015, coach Brian Kelly had an interesting day when it came to his coaching staff, with one assistant reportedly leaving for another job

Mike needs to take the bad with the good here and realize that this is about HIS future now. He's committed. The timing sucks, but that's a life lesson for him. He can't let this situation stop him now.

The injustices resulting from the power imbalance between players and the NCAA is being addressed, as we speak, by legions of attorneys who are acting on behalf of players like Mike Weber.

On the other side, I don't recall reading too much about Stan Drayton being involved in the recruiting at the end. Evidently, UFM was doing what he could to soften the blow.

Fortunately, Mike Weber will have the benefit of a good RB coach because no one in his right mind would turn down a chance to run a pre-season Heisman candidate behind an Ed Warinner line, to coach a team that will be favored to repeat the title run, and to have the incoming RB recruit pipeline of tOSU.

Think if that is your son...

My son would know to commit to a school and a system that enhances his talents and gets him ready for the NFL and provide him with a degree. I would never have him put complete trust in men also looking to pad their wallets and build resumes by going to bigger schools or the NFL. This wouldn't make me ever pull my kid out of the school. Weber fits our system and could be a starter by a sophomore, that should mean more than a position coach leaving

@y0yoyoin , yes I believe Beckner still goes to Mizzou

We did not handle this the right way, plain and simple. UFM needs to visit MW's home and apologize to him and his family for this mishap as it sheds an ugly light to our program. This will affect future recruits and their trust in UFM.

"We" don't have a clue how this was and is being handled because "we" aren't privy to that information.
