RB Maurice Wells (Official Thread)

I still think that JT has some plays lined up for Mo but so far we haven't really needed to show them. Mo hasn't really had to play many meaningful snaps...his runs seem to come against crappy opponents or in garbage time when of course JT won't run anything other than up the gut. Anyway, I have a feeling that we'll see Mo Wells get outside at Penn St or for Wiscy or scUM. He'll get his wrinkles, but for now JT won't show his hand. He just doesn't need to yet.

true to all CBF40. I have noticed they are drawing up plays just to get him some holes and space. I noticed a nice counter draw yesterday. But mainly I have noticed that he is on a mission this year.

i loved that play. it was from a variation of that new formation we saw last week. actually, i guess it's really just different variations within the silver package (2 WRS, 2 TEs, 1 RB). anyway, this week it looked like this:

WR........LT LG C RG RT TE
....................QB............TE....WR

....................RB

we also lined up like this a couple times:

WR........LT LG C RG RT TE
....................QB......TE...WR

....................RB

on the counter draw, Jake Ballard pulled from the 2nd TE spot that was off the line. i guess you could call that an H-back.

and we saw some more of the shot-Ginn.

2nd teamer and they were making him run up the middle. They really shouldn't try that again:(

He has to run up the middle or he wouldn't even be able to run outside either if the D knew he was going there. JT and the boys know they have to get him open space. On the other hand his 1 yard TD was right up the gut, the O line just mowed em down for him.

He has improved his vision and is getting better at finding smaller gaps...that's when there are gaps to be found. I watched the game again last night and there were 4-5 runs where there were either multiple defenders already in the backfield or they had 7-8 guys in the box stuffing every gap. He made several runs where he changed direction to slip through a hole to get yardage. If he were to carry the ball 20 times and had consistent blocking (it sure seems the blocking is noticeably better when Beanie is in there), I'd bet real money Mo could crack 100 yards.

I can't wait to see how Mo does when getting a bulk of the caries this weekend! I'm not saying that he'll have a breakout game, but at the very least it will be the "storyline" which I will follow the most closely.

Big difference between the 2 wells as runners. Beanie is a very powerful runner and maurice is not and you can't teach that

Just curious; Did you read any of what he wrote?

yes, I did and I've been complaining about the o-line's run blocking in the middle from game one or coaching making The call to run up the middle seems to easy for the defense to stop with the d-line numbered up. Both Wells take a pounding the second they get the ball but, they might have a size difference between the 2 Wells and just curious,Which ones bigger?:( Which one can take a hit and which one can't?:( REALLY, neither can take those pounding all the time and I know to kill the clock but, I just don't like it. They could go outside more often instead to kill the clock.

I swear around the end of the 3rd quarter against Minni somebody gave the dreds an extra tug. Mo was running up middle on a two yarder going left to right. He was going down but got a little love tug.
You mean when they pulled the helmet off his head?
