Wells was the only RB given 5 stars by Rivals. I guess that means that, as of now, he is their #1 RB recruit.

Marlon Lucky, of North Hollywood, CA, is also a 5* back, and no. 18 overall on Rivals Top 100 (no. 3 RB). IMHO, Lucky is a better prosepct - his speed is about equal to Wells, and he has nice moves, good hands as a receiver, and much more size and power than Wells. He has good forward lean; dips his shoulder upon contact; uses stiff arms; can change direction very quickly; and when he breaks away, he's gone. He's the best back I've seen so far, but unfortunately he isn't interested in OSU.Wells was the only RB given 5 stars by Rivals. I guess that means that, as of now, he is their #1 RB recruit.
I'm not sure how Clarett's star ratings were going into his senior year. However, the final rankings were as follows:As of right now coming into his senior year how was he compared to Maurice Clarett going into his senior year?
Take Ohio State’s present pursuit of Maurice Wells. He is considered one of the top-10 running back prospects in the nation by Rivals100. But because he is from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Fla., at first glance he would appear to be a long shot for the Buckeyes, especially considering the lure of in-state schools Florida, Florida State and Miami.
Except OSU has two things going for it:
• "The school I pick, I will probably end up leaving the state, to tell you the truth," Wells said the other day.
• "I have kinfolks from both my mom’s side and my dad’s side who live in the Columbus area," Wells said.
As a matter of fact, he’s in Columbus this weekend. He flew up to attend the high-school graduation of one of his cousins.
"Having that much family close, that definitely could be a factor in my decision," Wells said. "That’s one of the big parts why I like Ohio State."
Some of the other parts are what you’d imagine they would be.
"They won the national championship a couple of years ago, and I see them winning it again pretty soon," Wells said. "Jim Tressel is a good coach. Anybody can see that. If I end up there I know I’d be on a real good team. I see them winning a lot in the future."
Yet it’s not as if it’s OSU or bust for Wells. His hot list includes Southern Cal, Georgia and Notre Dame, to name a few. He has not established a top five at this point. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound speedster could pick up the phone and dial his way into a scholarship offense most anywhere, really.
Wells likely won’t make his decision until late, possibly as late as national-letter-of-intent signing day in February.
"I’m looking for the place that’s best for me, and a place where we can win," Wells said.
Even if he pretty much has ruled out the schools from Florida, that leaves the rest of the nation. That’s still a pretty big ocean.
