RB Maurice Wells (Official Thread)

according to the latest insiders update- tOSU, USC and Gtech lead the pack (not really a big suprise)

Here is what he says about tOSU

Ohio State: “I have a lot of family up there. My grandma wants me to go there because they practically live right next to the school.”

but as Nutty indicated above Gtech and USC will be tough to beat

Gtech has an assistant coach, who is the father of Mo's HS coach

USC has the jet, Hollywood and he will be Petey's "no. 1 guy".

Mo-Always listen to Grandma :)

Where do you guys truly think he will commit to? tOSU or one of the other 2 schools? Is there any other news out that we may not have heard yet?

Maurice's family wants him to be a Buckeye. That fact alone should keep us in it until the end but you can't underestimate Petey's jet and the coaching connection at Georgia Tech.

free link on Wells

In other recruiting news, Florida's 2003 leading rusher says he is considering Georgia Tech along with Ohio State and Southern California. Maurice Wells rushed for 3,000 yards and 31 touchdowns last fall for Jacksonville's Sandalwood High School.

Wells, the Florida Times-Union's 2003 Offensive Player of the Year, is coached by Adam Geis, the son of Georgia Tech assistant coach Buddy Geis. Wells' teammate, standout linebacker Marvin Sapp Jr., also lists the Yellow Jackets among his favorites.

I can't see a kid of Wells stature going to Georgia Tech for crying out loud. Have they made ANY noise in the last 10 years?

I think it becomes a two horse race with USC and OSU with USC getting the nod :smash: . Hope I'm wrong.

Being the old folks' favorite school

I get a queasy feeling everytime I hear that Mom and the family favor tOSU, but junior is enthralled with Petey and his jet. Being the old folks' favorite might actually paint tOSU into a bad position -- the dreary, you're-supposed-to-go-there choice. Then along comes Hollywood and the kid thinks "Hm-m-m. Old folks' dreary or Hollywood sparkle, which will it be?"

Don't get me wrong, the folks are better judges of what's best for junior 9 times out of 10. And it's nice when parents see tOSU as the best choice for their little superstars. But to a kid's way of thinking, the old advertising adage "this ain't your father's Oldsmobile" probably has a lot of validity when it comes to picking schools.

When you were 17, did you want to do the things your folks told you you should do, or did you want to try something else -- something with a little more edge to it?

Helping Hand -- don't 'spare the rod and spoil the child' on this one, please. Lay the family timber to Maurice and make sure he wins his Heisman where Archie Griffin and Eddie George won their's. (And where the other Maurice would have this year, if he hadn't been such a knucklehead.)

Maurice Wells for Prez!

well, this kid has great talent and we do have more than a chance to land him, it would really help us because we need a stud at tailback, I say the family wins out in the end but it is going to be a long road until next Feb.
