RB Maurice Clarett (B1G Freshman of the Year, National Champion)

Someone on Bucknuts a day or so ago said that they knew a person who works at OSU in class scheduling or some shit, and said that Clarett had nothing scheduled for the upcoming term, which starts Monday. I always take the "I know some who..." stuff with a grain of salt, but...

I expect he will be back for OSU next year. He has kept a low profile and has made some quiet inquiries into coming back. By this I simply mean comments from friends that are still on the team and his cousin, who seems to be his spokesman, all have mentioned he would like to play for the Bucks next fall. Also, I still doubt whether he wins the NFL case. Even if he does, I would expect there to be an appeal.

My guess is MoC has missed being a part of the team this year. I also am guessing the NFL drags his case out until after the year starts, giving him no choice but to come back or go division 1AA. I also firmly believe that Tressel will give him a second chance if he does what he needs to do. Not because he is MoC, but because he is part of the team and everyone deserves a second chance. But everyone also must be responsible for their actions.

So, my guess is he is reinstated to the team this winter, but sits out the first two games to finish his penalties. I am also guessing that he comes back completely healthy and wins the Heisman trophy, putting up more yards than Sproles.

Post #924 Clarett is indeed registered for classes WI-04 Reply

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just thought I'd spread the FYI.

I have it on very good authority that he is registered for classes in the current quarter. Now, if he'll actually attend/stay awake in those classes is still yet to be seen.

Maybe I am just a tad too optimistic, but all signs are pointing to a return to OSU. Jim Brown recommending his return to school, cousin Marrow hinting of a football return, Tressel giving a look of why are you asking such a question - of course he is working hard to come back next year. MoC needs to mend fences with Geiger, and Jim Brown needs to recognize that until that fence is mended, nothing positive will happen. When that happens, welcome back MoC. You served more than your time for what you had done. I hope to God you learned from it, because if you screw up, your career will be over. And, if Tressel wants him back, then that is good enough for me.

The year certainly is starting out great -K State win, Freeman career gone, MoC returning (with my scarlet and gray glossy eyes wide open).

So many people that I know who are great supporters of Ohio State Football feel he would be more of a distraction to the team if he did come back and I hate to hear that. I have always been the type of a person who looks at things in a positive way. To me, everything that happens is for a purpose and a reason. The sad thing about this whole situation is what we witnessed and experienced in his outcoming with the team in 2002 and his
great runs that he displayed. And then to have him do what he did in april of 2003 really surprised alot of us. So if the NFL shoots him down in February, do we give him a second chance in hopes that he plays with a different mind set. I would say yes to that but alot of people are not as forgiving like I am. Just give him a chance is all I can say.

Simply because he is just a kid and therefore somewhat immature I would say you'd have to give him another chance. I would have him on a short leash though. If he'd do anything such as another public tirade in front of Rb coach Tim Spencer then he'd gone in heartbeat. He has to come back with the understanding that he is just another player and the team will accept only exemplary actions from him.

I'm under the impression that Coach Tressel would welcome him back... Geiger on the other hand might be another story, although with time, I think he would welcome MoC back as well... the real issue is does he win his case against the NFL, and if he does, will there be challenges to the ruling through apeals....

I would like him back (and have through all of this... and have taken a lot of abuse for stating that :( on some boards)...

I don't know what happens, however I think it would be good for MoC as well as the team if he came back (and kept his trap shut  )...

Clarett Again - It Isn't Pretty

This Should Seal His Fate

Crazy as this sounds, I am relieved after reading this story. I kept hearing the rumors about an ESPN article that was going to expose major academic problems at OSU. Instead, it's my main man back in the news. Seems Delmutti had a little action going even before Clarett enrolled at OSU. I just do not see Geiger taking any action to reinstate Clarett after this episode. Clarett did not necessarily do anything wrong here, but OSU as an institution just cannot "gamble" (no pun intended) on what else may be hiding in the closet. I still got a great deal on my #13 scarlet jersey.
