RB Maurice Clarett (B1G Freshman of the Year, National Champion)

Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett expressed support for Tressel on his Facebook page. He posted: "Two thumbs up for my man Jim Tressel for protecting his players. You got the respect from our community. We come from nothing and you know that and you protect us when we act on impulse. More coaches need to stand up for the players who make them who they are."

And then this:

"I just got off the phone with coach Tressel and his heart is in the right place. The rules that govern the athletes are not realistic. Its a new day and time and (I'm) supporting him. I love that he protected his team and he will always have respect from Youngstown. He's our spokesperson. He came from nothing to something."

I just find it hard to believe that anyone could support the cover up.

I get supporting the players. They're kids, they messed up, the rules are silly.

Maybe the way the players see it is Jim didnt run to report it because he wanted to handle it in house and protect his players from a public crucifixion.........obviously he made matters much worse. Players that played for him have a different perspective im sure than we all do. Is that hard to believe?

i'll just stop here because there's a lot of different directions I could take this conversation that will be perceived as baiting and trolling and whatnot. I just wanted to verify he was serious and not being sarcastic in what he was saying.

Im not arguing with you im trying to explain his possible perspective even if its flawed.............I can see you have a strong opinion about it which does not offend me because I have not offered my opinion at all

Clarett has been a nice addition to the Nighthawks. He seems sincere in his wish to reform his life, and put his trouble behind him. Moglia speaks well of him, and I think he's going to see an expanded role this year. His shot at the NFL has probably passed, but he's at least being productive in his life after football, unlike some former RBs from Nebraska I could name. :roll1:

Now now. LP is being productive in his current life in many ways:

1. He's contributing to the economy of California by making license plates:

2. He raised awareness for the need of speed training. He demonstrated this on August 21st, 2005.

3. Made a good point in 2005 to reinstate the Transcontinental Road Race. Not since 2000 when President Frankenstein raced (and abolished the race) have we seen such point totals. For those unfamiliar with the TRR, I've gone ahead and attached a sample of the 2000 race and the rule changes:

And seeing as how Thunder just got there, I'm sure he'll make a fine addition to the workforce. He's already passed LP by leaps and bounds - he's got an entire lifetime to contribute!

So how dare you say theyr'e not productive?!? Shame on you!!!
