RB Master Teague (3rd Team All B1G)

You all saying you missed him, though I somewhat agree. I think you all also really miss that the OL was getting manhandled on Saturday and not opening holes. If the blocking was just a little better on Saturday, Trey and Miyan would've been much more successful
That's a true statement, but doesn't eliminate the feeling that if Teague was available Saturday he may have had the strength/drive to move the sticks on some of those short yardage situations. Obviously if the OL opens larger holes that is a solution (as you stated). But if Teague's strength could have provided a little more push then that may have offset the lack of a hole. Neither statement invalidates the other.

Not easy to control the LOS when teams pack the box. I've always maintained that I wish occasionally we would put 4 WRs out there to force teams out of the box schematically. Our answer is usually to get heavier but I always wonder what would happen if we spread teams out.

I'm interested to see if any of the OL graded out as "champions" for the Penn State game.

Stroud commented post-game that the Penn State defense was calling out the offensive plays. I know as Day said that'll happen every game but for Stroud to mention it as a frustration point it must have been a large factor. I am guessing that Penn State deciphered plays maybe by playcalling tendencies or a player tell and that is what led to the abysmal running performance in the first half of so. I'm not sure Teague would have made much difference if he was getting met in the backfield every play.

I'm sure having coach Yurich helped knowing some of those plays...

I'd say it's going to be a rough week of practice for that unit

I agree overall but Teague would have helped gain a few yards on 1-3 snaps inside the 3.

Henderson is tough enough to run inside (and I think he mature in that department in this game, is this is the first time he's been running against a true B1F front), but he's not quite strong enough to sledgehammer into the teeth of a defense. That's Teague's calling card.

I think your first statement is key.

I did find it odd that the OL was working toward their blocking assignments at the second level and basically letting someone on the DL crash through. I wonder if it was assumed that the back would have enough shake and bake to get past that guy to benefit from the block(s) at the second level. They were in close enough a few times where if they focused on blocking the first level the RB would have gained yardage and perhaps would have scored.

I did see someone mention having a FB in the game for that situation. OL takes first level, FB takes the LB who crashes and RB scoots through based on even numbers and / or prayer. Feels like, dare I say it? Old school football.

The OL got punched in the mouth Saturday. If we get an opportunity to play a team like UGA then this team needs a much better showing.
