You like to think that Buckeyes are proud to have been Buckeyes, and achieving the greatest goal as a Buckeye would mean more to them than 6,000 dollars.
Have you guys considered that Lydell is just trying to pull together enough money to buy Chris Vance's ring? Can you imagine what a great souvenir that would be?!?!?!?

Ring for sale

The 2002 national championship ring of former running back Lydell Ross is for sale on eBay, and the high bid last night was just more than $6,000. Attempts to reach Ross were unsuccessful, but a former teammate who asked not to be named said Ross sold the ring and his gold pants pendant from the 2005 win over Michigan to a middle man for $3,000, and Ross has nothing to do with the eBay sale.

I believe Lydell was interviewed on 1460 today. From what I heard (recap of the interview), Lydell said he gave the ring/pants to a friend, the friend sold them to a collector, the collector is now auctioning them off on e-bay (FWIW).

this pisses me off... maybe i'm being irrational, but as far as i'm concerned, any Buckeye who is willing to sell something as priceless as a National Championship Ring doesn't deserve to wear the Scarlet and Gray... as far as the Buckeyes go, Flydell is dead to me. in my mind he is no longer a Buckeye.
hmm... it appears i went off half-cocked (and maybe a little buzzed), but the story is that Flydell gave his ring to a supposed good friend, but that that supposed friend put it up for sale, and he (Flydell) is in the process of trying to get it back... he also said that he's selling real estate in Tampa and playing a lot of golf...

it looks like i'm an asshole.

Let me just say something here. This point isn't brought up too much. But if you go back to 4th and 1 at Purdue, Lydell Ross saves the season. He makes a block on a Purdue linebacker that had nothing but a sack on his mind. The LB, whose name I don't know, gets past Adrien Clarke and would have had Krenzel had it not been for key execution by Lydell. I figure i'd just say something positive about the guy, since without the block we likely lose that game.

Nice point. I just watched 'Holy Buckeye' again, and I didn't remember that block.

Good work, Lydell.

I'm not sure I'd want him to try to run through a doorway in a burning house carrying my grandmother/puppy/child/etc., though. "Come on, Lydell, the doorway is open, but the roof is about to collapse! You can make it." BAM [Sound of Lydell missing the hole and running into door jam]

Just kidding, this time. Tampa is lucky to have him down there.
