Gold Pants
Good to know. I have always loved having a big back in our arsenal of weapons.

That is what I was thinking in terms of optimal top weight being around where Dobbins ended up, maybe a tad higher but not that of a power back. I think his ideal playing weight is about 210. SWD can be the thunder to Peoples' lightning...cliché, I know but we've got our RB1, let's go get a solid RB2 and SWD to me would fit that bill provided he shows out at PN this year.247has him as 10lbs heavier at 203, but I feel like his body can put on weight easier. And if he needed to be could play at 220-230lbs easily. Peoples seems like his best top weight will be around 205-210, similar to Dobbins
Me likey. Obviously wanted Marshall but if we had to pick one, I like Peoples with his explosiveness and versatility. Nice to see that feeling validated by third party neutrals. In the new 247 rankings...
James Peoples is RB3
Jordan Marshall is RB14

I always liked Marshall too, and early on he was my #1 RB that I wanted for OSU. That was until I saw Peoples, and realized that Alford had a realistic chance of landing him. Peoples just fits this offense so much better than Marshall, IMO.Peoples has gone from a 90 rating to a 93 rating, and #248 overall to #94 overall.

I wanted Marshall, but you gotta like how the two are trending relative to each other.
Peoples said running backs coach Tony Alford played a big role in his commitment to the Buckeyes, as well, bringing him into the running backs room and integrating him during his visit.
The San Antonio, TX. native said seeing Alford break down film and push the message of the "ultimate goal" of being "a powerhouse in the league" was a big selling point for him also.
"He told me I remind him a lot of J.K. [Dobbins] and, not of course because of the relationship of us both being Texas backs," Peoples told Buckeye Scoop. "But really just my attitude, my demeanor, how I go about my business, of course, my build and things like that."
Scouting Report: Peoples exhibits excellent initial burst. Once he penetrates the line of scrimmage, he promptly locates gaps and exploits defenses with quick north-south bursts. He demonstrates great decision-making abilities, whether to hit the hole or employ his explosive lateral agility to break out wide. His ability to accelerate quickly and maintain speed throughout the play is impressive, and he possesses deceptive top-end speed that can catch defenses off guard.
Glad I am not the only one that thinks Peoples is almost a Dobbins clone...Peoples looks a tad bigger but his running style and pass catching just screams Dobbins. I would be saying that even if Peoples didn't hail from Texas, but that makes it impossible not to make the comparison. I can't wait to see this kid in S&G.
James Peoples, 5-11 202, sr., San Antonio Veterans Memorial
A top-five-rated running back prospect nationally and Ohio State commit rushed for 1,900 yards, 28 touchdowns and earned himself District 13-5A co-MVP and a spot to play in the US Army All-American game in January. He also displayed his versatility as a pass-catcher out of the backfield with 200-yards receiving. With Peoples lining up in the backfield behind an offensive line that returns four starters from a year ago, look for the future Buckeye to rack up similar production as last year in which it garnered national attention.
