RB James Peoples (Official Thread)

Imagine being an Akron linebacker in the 4th quarter

theyve pulled Henderson

they’ve pulled judkins

you think you’re finally going to catch a break

then this guy comes in and the only thing catching a break is your sternum
I think People’s will lead the team in rushing attempts by the time we play Sparty.

Or he better at least considering who we play the first month. People’s and SWD need to play the entire second half of the first 3 games.

More games mean more wear and tear for the Buckeyes, especially for the running backs. That's the reason, now more than ever, Ohio State needs a pair and a spare in the running back room – and it wouldn't hurt to have spares, plural. Thankfully, freshmen ballcarriers James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon seem ready, willing and able to be those spares behind Henderson and Judkins.

"Tough, physical runners. Slashers," Locklyn said of Peoples and Williams-Dixon last week. "Good hands. Willing pass protectors. Of course, they were here before I got here, but both kids have been a joy to work with."

Peoples shed his black stripe on Friday, becoming the fifth freshman to participate in the rite of passage behind Smith, Sayin, safety Jaylen McClain and defensive end Eddrick Houston.

If called upon to relieve Henderson or Judkins, Peoples said he would look natural with the ball in his hands.

"I feel very confident," he said, "because of the intensity in practices we've been through with Coach Lock. I feel like if they call my number, I'll definitely be ready. ... I bring an edge to my game. I'm very competitive. I run hard every play. I'm a hard worker."

The freshmen keep having a field day for Ohio State against Akron.

In the wake of wide receiver Jeremiah Smith's eye-popping debut, freshman running back James Peoples scored his first career touchdown to make it three touchdowns for first-year Buckeyes against the Zips. It was Peoples' first career carry.

Some great subtlety in his running style. He's able to give his blockers leverage at the second level with good vision and slight stutter steps to make the defender hesitate for a moment. Exciting to see from a freshman.
His running style just screams JK Dobbins to me, it's like he was reincarnated in Columbus. I would imagine Trey and Judkins both go pro, and then Peoples takes RB1 if he keeps it up.

Came to say exactly this! After watching Dobbins yesterday, Peoples reminded me so much of him. Compact RBs, that are just balls of muscle who also have the speed to pull away from defenders and also be able to fight through tackles.
