RB Jaamal Berry (Transfer to Murray State)

An Mo Wells for that matter. JT will play the guys that put us in the best position to win. As has been stated, there's more to RB than just toting the rock.

Also, when I've seen Jordan Hall in there with the ones early in the game, he doesn't do much better than Boom or Saine. He definitely has some wiggle and some speed potential, but is he so much better that he can supplant them? I don't know. Berry hasn't been seen in "regular" game situations yet. Again, a lot of potential. Remember when Boom would come in for Beanie and look great, against what was by then tired defenses or subs. When Beanie was hurt and he had to play the whole game, he didn't look quite as good.

I think what we're seeing now is that teams are selling out to stop the run, making TP beat them with his arm. The fact that he's done just that for five games and counting now, means that we might start seeing more running lanes opening up.

Hall and Berry are definitely making the most of their reps, so that's good, but so did Saine and Boom when they were underclassmen.

...excellent point.

uh well then we've been watching a different game. When Hall has been in I think he's found more room than Saine for sure. He isn't getting 100 yards but then again he's only getting 1-5 carries with the first team.

That said I think that Berry is the most talented runner out of all of them.

I like his style.

Dick Tressel said that the bottom line is that Saine and Herron dont cough the ball up and know all their assignments. That is what JT is all about, mistake free football. Like other posters have said if we were losing games then he would find options that can get us wins. Right now we will probably win out the rest of the season if we play turnover free football. I dont see anything changing for the rest of the year with Saine and Herron.

I believe that Hall and especially Berry offer something different and possibly more natural talent, but I dont see anything changing with what we see right now unless there is a few losses. Go Bucks

A few more snaps a game shouldn't be too much of an issue regarding assignments. I don't want them to go out and block. I want them to get the ball and run.

If they fumble, keep them off the field. I'll assume that's why they aren't getting snaps. Although they take plenty of kicks and punts...

Not losing Terrelle Pryor for the season due to a missed RB block on a blitz is extremely more important than either Hall or Berry getting extra carries in any game. Hall and Berry need to be returning kicks and getting spot duty to gain experience.

They'll get more touches in the next few weeks and those will be the most important ones, in conference. If they do very well then, they'll get more looks in the future.

Pryor is the offense.

Dont mess with a streak. - Crash Davis

You cant just bring them in and run run run, without the threat of pass. You want to work them into the offense the way its being run. I would like to see them explode a few more times too, but they'll have to do it with the reps they get for now.

I just hope that Berry feels the love from the staff, and waits his turn to get more carries. I would hate to see him transfer and be an all American somewhere else.

Since this keeps coming up - Berry has used his RS. Yes, he could apply for a medical but that might not be so easy at a different school than where he suffered the injury. In any case any new "opportunity" would not arise until his fourth year in college. If a lack of patience is the problem that would not seem to be the answer. (I am NOT suggesting he is unhappy/impatient - just addressing the normal motivations for transfer.)

That said, he is getting his touches. Fifteen carries and 8 returns for a total of over 400 yards is not so bad in four games with two upperclassmen ahead of you. If he has the talent he appears to have and learns his assignments his role will expand, particularly as the Big Ten takes its toll on the health of all involved.

And as much as I am anxious to see Berry myself I do trust the coaches to sort out a backfield that will become only more crowded next season. You can rest assured somebody is going to be unhappy.
