With that kind of speed I have a hard time visioning a scenario where Haw doesn't at least get a few carries this year. If he stays healthy he could really emerge next fall. I'm not really too big on him gaining a lot of weight, Ross did that and it slowed him down substantially.

Erik Haw was a trim210 Daddy. I seen pictures of him and even questioned his weight being 210. I wouldn't want Erik to get over 225 because there is no purpose for it. Hes a speed back playing at a power backs weight.

If you have any combination of these players on the field you have a track team playing football Troy Smith, Ted Ginn, Erik Haw, Mo Wells, Pittman, Gonzo, Holms, and Lyons. It's truly scary how good OSU could be on offense next year.

rated as the 58th best overall prospect in the country by TheInsiders.com
i know that's not correct, 58th best RB maybe?........either way it's obvious he received some pretty good recognition from some of the services, if in fact Insiders had him as the 58th best back, shows how far off of the others they are

i believe at one point in high school he was refered to as "The E-Haw Show" locally not the haw factor.

erik is a good player, but as ive said before had a hard time picking up the schemes (especially pass blocking which are extremely difficiult) he also had a small knock for not always going 100%. though right around the first few games he had a couple of 'talks' with the coaching staff and they hae really seen an imporvement as the fall went on. the tailback spot is wide open...it should be a fun spring and summer (maybe running over into the fall). as far as what to expect in that postion anything can really happen. if his foot sticks on a plant there goes a career. our running game should be improved no matter the situation-and our passing attack should improve opening up the run a bit also.

Trust the man, he knows what he's talking about. Pittman showed some nice things last seaso but IMO he's going to have to work his tail off to keep Haw from taking his spot.

For what it's worth, Haw claimed to be up to 218 before the bowl game. No clue if that's true, but that's without even trying to bulk up. 215 is probably a good weight for him, and IMO that's plenty big enough. He should be a slasher and use his speed which is his strength.

I'm trying not to beat a drum so early on in the season here but Erik Haw at running back makes me smile. I got to see some workouts last season during the Purdue week and he's got skills. I will try and hold my enthusiasm until after the spring game when everyone else here is exploding as well.

How's Haw?

Anybody have any skinny on how Eric Haw is performing in workouts and drills this month?

We've had this big-body speed-merchant wrapped up in the cellar like a choice bottle of wine. I hope that when we uncork him this Fall he lives up to his potential.

We'll get a clue, I guess, next month when the Scarlet and Gray teams choose their RBs.

I don't follow this type of subject as well as I'd like to. What lessons from last year?
He was rumored to be "fragile" last year in both a physical and mental frame. Apparently, he stepped up his S&C and his film/playbook work.

As said above, we will see the dividends during Spring Practice.

the basic gist i got from an S&C coach was that once haw found out the intentions of the staff to redshirt him, he really slouched off in his efforts in the weightroom, in practice, and in the classroom. when pittman started having troubles and getting into the doghouse, it was almost like an epiphany for haw.

let's just say that the spring game is going to make for quite an interesting afternoon.

I also have been very pumped about haw in this offseason... he's always getting the guys hyped up on thet sidelines and cheering on the guys before they take the field. He has a realy chance to be a star here, and I think even with Wells he'll remain a mainstay for four years if he breaks out this year. The best part is he can be the lightning to CWells' thunder, yet still is big enough to run up the middle. How will MWells fit into our little tagline? Only thing that's faster than the lightning is the flash of light that blinds you with its speed/beauty and then is gone before you can blink. I know, I'm stretching big time, but what else is there to do in March?
