Im just glad I didn't get PWNED, bro, it was like OMG seriously effin close bro!!

I agree that Boom will run harder than we have ever seen him run before. He will be pressing for carries with the younger guys already ready to go in the fold. He has the physical attributes to really make a solid come back and contribution to this team next year.

Why don't you just calm down?

On a lighter note, I ran into Boom at Polaris on Saturday. One of the most polite guys I have met and we talked for about 5-10 minutes. I told him how I was excited to see hm play next season and how much I appreciated him coming back. Not uncommon of most football players no one else really knew who he was. Sucks that he was involved in all this but it seems like he will learn from it and be stronger for it. Again Great Guy.

After all the talk about these younger guys that are going to take his spot, I've heard that Boom has been killing these offseason workouts and is a weightroom warrior. I like to hear that he's putting in such noticeable work and hopefully that carries over into week 6.

In discussing the possibility that one or more of the suspended Buckeyes may wish to pursue the supplemental draft in the wake of Coach Tressel's resignation, Len Pasquarelli makes what I find to be an extremely surprising comment: draft experts rate Boom Herron the #2 running back eligible for the 2012 draft:

If he stays for his senior season, Adams is the highest-rated prospect for the 2012 draft by NFLDraftScout.com, rated as the No. 2 offensive tackle in the class. Herron is also a Top 50 prospect and the No. 2-rated player at his position. Posey is the No. 6-rated wide receiver while Thomas is the 48th-rated defensive end.

Tressel exit could lead Buckeyes to supplemental draft

I also heard there may not be a supplemental draft if the NFL labor dispute is not resolved in time for it. If it happens, though, it seems quite conceivable we could lose a member of the Tat 5, or two.

I really couldn't blame them at this point, if that's the case.

IMO these guys are in the "No Slack Zone". I could blame them indeed.

At this point, what do they have to gain by sitting out 5 games and staying at tOSU? They agreed with JT to come back for 2011. Now that he's gone, they're going to be vilified and have little reason to stick around and take the heat.

That's separate from their role in this fiasco in the first place. Obviously, they bear their share of blame. That wasn't the "blame" I was speaking of here.

...
According to Mike and Mike, the supplemental draft is covered under the same agreement that allowed the normal draft to happen. So resolution of the lockout isn't necessary for the supplemental draft to take place. However, no date has been set in stone yet.

Leaving is taking the easy way out. Staying around and sticking with what amounts to a promise if you will indicates to old-fashioned folks like me that you are a man who is good for his word. I know I sound like an old timer when I say that a man is only as good as his word, but it was how I was raised and it is how I am raising my two sons. If one of my two sons were in this situation, I would emphatically remind them of their promise and that they were going to honor that promise.

I definitely respect that point of view, but most of us don't have 30,000 students who blame us for the coach's departure and have an opportunity to get drafted into our dream profession. At the end of the day, other than the respect of old guys like us what do these particular players/students/young men have to gain by sticking around for half a season under those circumstances?

Besides, the man they promised just quit. I believe he was given the choice of quit or be fired but at the end of the day he left and they're still there. Unfortunately, he didn't teach them the best lessons he could've taught them over the last 14 months in how he handled, ironically, their mistakes. It truly is a shame that it has come to this point.

If he and the rest of the crew really value what JT tried to instill in them they will stay and finish out their careers. I don't care how many students, faculty and alumini hate them, the man just threw his career and reputation in the toilet trying to protect these guys. One thing these guys can learn from this is to stand up and accept responsibility for the adversity they created like men. People will make mistakes...it is how they respond afterwards that truly reveals their character. If they leave or run for the NFL with their tails between their legs it will prove to me that they learned nothing from the man.

Would it surprise me if he or any of the other ones leave....absolutely not. Given the opportunity, I would hope that they would understand that by staying and facing the criticism and anger from many of us, that they can learn from this and truly understand what was sacrificed for them.
