RB Daniel "Boom" Herron (Official Thread)

I wouldn't count out AA honors. I would hope that with the O-line and the threat of Pryor I could gain 1000 yards and win a national championship. Somebody with actual skill and athletic ability would be dangerous.

AA for Herron this year? Come on man? There is no way, unless Wells goes down and Boom ends up the bulk of the carries and puts up really big numbers. No way a back-up RB gets named AA, not even second team. Honorable mention would even be an extreme long shot at best.

Now if you are talking after Wells leaves (be it this year or next) then OK.

Pretty sure he meant in the future.

Of course I am talking about the future. I agree that back-up RB doesn't get AA honors. Specially back up RS Freshman RB. Before he is gone I have to believe that either Boom or Zoom will be an AA.

They both have a great shot.
I'm not sure about this. I believe that we will use a 2 back system, much like the one that clemson uses, with saine being the spiller type back and herron being the davis type back. It will be hard for a hb in a 2 rb system to become an AA.

While I agree, one need look no further than last yr w/ McFadden and F Jones at Arky to see what can happen. I'm not suggesting that will happen here, but it can happen.

Not to mention Pryor will take away oppurtunities..

One of the things that always amazes me whenever I watch high school films of current and former Buckeyes is how much the players stayed the same, despite the conditioning and growth. Take Gonzo: the play he made in HS against Harding when he caught a pass and shifted directions across the middle of the field played out the same way against Iowa. Wells and Clarett were the same types of runners they were in HS as well. With Boom, I think he has excellent vision, balance and cutback abilities. While he doesn't have elite speed or power, I think he's better at making cuts and shifting directions while maintaining balance than Pittman. Boom and Zoom should be a fun pair in '09.

I'd love it if he were as good as Pittman. 1,300-1,500 yards and around 15 TDs? Awesome. But as other have said, I think the o will be more of a 2 back rotation without a dominant RB, but 2 very good ones. Pryor helps a bit too

If we have a 1300-1500 back and the other one is more of a receiver who can stretch the field, then I don't think they'll split the carries all that much. It depends on how far Saine comes along as a runner, but I think Boom is the heir apparent.
