RB Daniel "Boom" Herron (Official Thread)

I'll admit I havent seen much of Boom up to this point. If he's added 10 pounds of muscle to that frame then I'm all for seeing more of him in action.

Boom, Wells, and Saine could be in the game at the same time. Split backfield with Wells and Herron , with Saine in the slot. Oh yeah, add a guy named Pryor to the shotgun and see what happens?!?!?!

All of this and we havent even talked about the best Oline in college football........:chompy:

Boom

Great nickname for a running back. Ive talked to coaches who know and they say he is legit. Fast and quick feet. Hits the hole like a freight train. Plays bigger than he is. I want to see him in scarlet and gray.

Talks about how the staff is still holding Beanie out of contact drills at this point and how the "Boom & Zoom tandem" of Herron & Saine have stepped up.

Kind of surprised to not see any posts yet on Boom's performance in the spring game, which I thought was very impressive. Very good vision, good pass pro, and he is a very determined runner. A bit reminiscent of Jacob Hester IMO, with more burst.

He had a very good debut day IMO. I like the way he runs and seems to wiggle a couple of extra yards on his runs. Between Boom, the Wells, Zoom, and Beanie, fans should have plenty to feel good about.

Who made a mark? Dan "Boom" Herron

Sunday, April 20, 2008 6:39 AM

Dan "Boom" Herron

? Basics: Redshirt freshman running back
? Quick history: The most talked-about nonparticipant from last season, he is from the same high school (Warren Harding) as Maurice Clarett.
? Spring-game display: Playing for the Scarlet, he led all rushers with 30 yards on 10 carries. Holes were hard to come by against the Gray front seven, but most of his were found behind veteran left tackle Alex Boone.
? What it means: Though he didn't do anything particularly outstanding in the jersey scrimmage or Scarlet and Gray game, Herron proved he could take a hit and keep on running.
? Quotable: "He's strong. He's not afraid to take that hit to get that extra yard. He's a powerful back, and I know he's got some speed, too, and some moves. We're really excited to have that depth at running back." -- quarterback Todd Boeckman

I have Math class with Andrew Sweat and he gave me alot of tidbits about who he thinks will perform well this season (and seasons to come). All he could talk about is how good Boom is and how he is the next big thing to play for Ohio State. I asked about Maurice Wells and Sweat just told me that he wouldn't be suprised to see Boom get more playing time than Maurice. I am not sure if that's really going to happen with Maurice being a senior, but comments like that tells me that I cant wait to see Boom on the field this season.

Other Tidbit:

He thinks Ross Homan is our best LB besides Laurinaitis
