RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

"They have a big, physical offensive line, and Chris Wells showed great toughness," Michigan coach Lloyd Carr said. "He's got great feet and he's got wonderful acceleration. When you carry the ball 39 times in this game ...

He got hit, he got hit hard, and he got hit a lot. But he kept coming, and I thought he proved to all of us what an outstanding football player he is."

Although Beanie could destroy scUM over the next few years, I don't think it's fair or sensible to say he'll be the next Troy role for the simple fact that Troy was a QB and brought a lot of different elements to the field that an RB just can't. I think Beanie could definitely help us beat scUM time and time again (as we've been doing), but the field general is the QB. Troy RAN that offense.

Still believe this?

What the fuck is it with Ohio State athletes looking about 30 years older than they actually are by the way? First, we got Grandpa Oden who's 20 going on 65, and then I actually see Beanie's face and HAYZEUS FUCKING KRYSTO, the guy looks like he's 45! What do you Ohio folk put in the water?

Well, unlike Michigan boys, we Ohio boys start fuckin' before we hit kindergarten...

Yes and he's right.

Beanie doesn't have the ball in his hands on EVERY offensive play (despite the 39 carries)......

Unless Tressel REALLY throws a curveball on everyone and breaks out the single wing with Beanie in the backfield, it will likely stay that way.

The big question was could he stay healthy enough. He gutted it out and showed a warrior mentality. I'm really pleased he did as well as he did.
This season was huge for him.
He is "the lighthouse". He is this teams heart.

OSU Running back sets record, steals the show

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Saturday was supposed to be a showcase for Michigan's Mike Hart.
Chris Wells stole the show.
The Ohio State sophomore ran for 222 yards and two touchdowns Saturday, helping the No. 7 Buckeyes win the Big Ten championship with a rainy 14-3 victory.
The 222 yards was 52 more than any other Buckeye had ever managed against Michigan, breaking the record of 170 by Carlos Snow in 1998.

Dang, how many years did Carlos Snow play? :tongue2:

Beanie was a man among boys on Saturday... here's to his continuing punishment of wary defenders in the Rose Bowl/BCSNC!

Believe Snow did that in the famous "Earle" headband game. With Spielman
leading the way on "D".
"Signing with Ohio State University, Snow battled through injuries (including hip surgery) to finish his career 6th on the all-time rushing list at Ohio State with 2,974 yards from 1987 to 1991."

I was wondering, too, how snow came back and found some extra eligibility at the age of 32 and ran amok against scUM in '98...

In the headband game, I know he had a 63-yard or so screen pass for a TD to turn the tide in the third quarter ( I was there, telling my Mich friends, watch out for Carlos Snow) but I don't think he had a 170 yards rushing that day....

anyone know for sure??

That would give him at least 230 all-purpose yards....

So I'm thinking maybe in 1988 he ran for 170 in Columbus???
