Bright lights, big city
It's hard not to get caught up in everything that is Los Angeles, and for several impact recruits last weekend's official visit to USC for the Stanford game was everything that they expected – and then some.

One of the biggest recruits that was blown away was the nation's No. 2 running back, Chris Wells. The long-time Ohio State running back said he couldn't believe everything he saw in Los Angeles.

"I loved California," he said. "It was amazing. I couldn't believe everything I saw. The fans, the crowd, the city – it was everything I thought it would be and then some. I'm still an Ohio State commitment man, but this situation, and this place definitely gives you a lot to think about."

USC Rivals $

11/8

Wells rates his USC visit a "10" but with one flaw: it's too far away from home. Chris says that he could see himself playing for USC, but "mom is in charge". The author of the article states that it is extrememly unlikely that Chris goes against his tOSU commitment.

You can always be taught speed. If your running style is bad, and someone helps you improve it, then you will most likely gain speed. Butch Reynolds I believe is working with and will continue to work with Chris Wells on improving his speed and running style.

Most kids don't lift or train as much in H.S. as they do in college. In college you're put on weight training and speed programs. Look at Lawrence Wilson (Freshman DE fron St.V-M) for example. He started the summer at about 230 lbs. and natural strength. Now when I see him on the field he looks like a monster. 6' 6" and 255lbs, his arms look huge and so do his legs.

I just can't even imagine how much stronger and faster Chris Wells will get.

that must be why there aren't many TGinn's around. you can't teach huge RBs to run like the wind. Players like Wells and Peterson don't come along very often.

People are born with natural speed, as they are also born with natural strength. We can do things to improve both of those. Lifting weights the correct way will help to gain muscle mass and therefor make us stronger. Learning how to run properly (running in your pads, cutting, straight ahead) can help to improve speed. I'm not saying that just anyone can cut .8 seconds of their 40 times, but I know Butch Reynolds has helped out some tOSU players and helped them develop quicker and faster bursts of speed. Acceleration is very important in running. The quicker you get off the block, the quicker you will reach the finish line.

So I think you can be taught certain aspects of speed and running.
