Wells was named as a Cleveland Plain Dealer Football All-Star....

AKRON GARFIELD | Senior

Position: Running back

Superstar stats: Big, strong and fast, he was a 6-2, 230-pound freight train capable of going the distance from anywhere on the field. The Ohio State recruit ran for 2,134 yards and 27 touchdowns on 223 attempts. He finished his four-year career with 5,232 yards and 64 touchdowns on 598 carries, an average of 8.7 yards per carry. He was a candidate for the Gatorade state player of the year award and the Parade All-American te am.

What you didn't know: Wells is active in the community as a volunteer with the Butch Reynolds Foundation. He will dress up as Santa Claus this Christmas at Garfield and at a neighborhood community center.

Well Barton is jus shorter than Rehring who WAS starting before he went out for the year. Not saying I don't like barton cuz I honestly love the way he plays, but its jus my opinion. I'd take either Rehring or Barton at right tackle. I just went with the shortest man to put at Gaurd which happened to be Barton.....

From staff reports

Glenville lineman Robert Rose and Akron Garfield running back Chris Wells are two of only four Ohioians who have been selected to play on the East Team in the annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl, featuring the top prep senior players in the country.

The game will be played Jan. 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio and will be televised live at 1 p.m. on WYKC Ch. 3. Cincinnati Colerain lineman Connor Smith and Pickerington North lineman Justin Boren are the other players from Ohio who will participate.

Glenville coach Ted Ginn Sr. is the coach for the East Team while Tarblooders' assistant coach Matt Chinchar is also on the staff.
