AKRON (OHIO) -- The U.S. Army All-American bowl has shown off talent of top running backs in the country, including Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles. Chris Wells, from Garfield High in Akron, Ohio, hopes to continue that trend after the big game in the January.

The classic East vs. West match-up will be played and televised live on NBC January 7th at 12:00 p.m. (CST) and will feature the top 78 prep football student-athletes in the country.
Chris Wells is the number one ranked running back in the country by Scout.com. He is a member of the National Hot
100 as well as the Midwest Hot 100. At 6-1, 220pounds, Wells has dominating size to go along with great speed at 4.51 which he ran at the Scout.com combine in Akron. "Cut from the same mold as Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson. He has tremendous speed. Great burst. Quick feet. Can accelerate outside and get corner. Square pads, delivers on contact. Breaks arm-tackles. Carries pads well. Has awesome leg strength. Good balance and lateral agility following contact," says Chris Pool of Scout.com.
As a junior, Wells rushed for 1,939 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2004 and averaged 9.1 yards per carry.
Wells made his commitment to Ohio State shortly after signing day this past February.

Will this game interfere with him enrolling early? I'm assuming 'no' if he's committing to play in it...
Derrick Williams and Justin King both enrolled early at Penn State, and they played in the game and enrolled the next day, im pretty sure the big ten schedule is probably the same...but who knows.
the game is the 7 this years, it was the 15th last year.
to me its win win,
either get to see Wells rip it up against the top comp in the nation, or have him enroll at OSU....ill take either.

Garfield at Ellet
Kickoff: 7 tonight.
Records: Garfield is 1-3, 0-0; Ellet is 3-1, 0-0.
Coaches: Bob Sax (27-12) is in his fourth season at Garfield; Joe Yost (150-117-2) is in his 27th season at Ellet.
Notebook: Garfield needs a victory to entertain any thoughts of the state playoffs. Senior running back Chris Wells has been piling up yards, but the Rams haven't been piling up wins. Meanwhile, Ellet's only loss was to Tallmadge, which is ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press Division II state poll. Led defensively by senior linebacker Gary Somerville and offensively by sophomore Chad Keppler, Ellet could position itself for a run at the City Series title with a win.
In what seems to be a pretty huge upset, Ellet beats Garfield 19-7.
I took the game in this evening. To make a long story short, my 10 year old son was wearing his AJ Hawk #47 and he got to shake Chris's hand before the game. Garfield's QB is good and another skilled position player named Cortez Smith is good, beyond that Chris has very little help. I can't wait until he gets to Columbus.

Garfield's Chris Wells got his yards. The Rams senior running back rushed for 178 yards on 24 carries. But the Ellet defense still did its job by keeping Wells out of the end zone.
That set the stage for the Orangemen's 19-7 victory over the Rams in an opening City Series game at the Orange Bowl.
It was the first time Ellet had beaten Garfield since 1996 and the sixth win overall since the series began in 1971.
Ellet (4-1, 1-0) senior running back Marcus Muster scored on a 4-yard run with 7:38 left in the first quarter.
Senior kick Petar Knezevic converted 19- and 33-yard field goals in the second quarter to boost Ellet's advantage to 13-0.
The Rams (1-4, 0-1) advanced inside the Ellet 20-yard line on two separate drives in the first half, but missed a field-goal try and Ellet junior defensive tackle John Kassinger recovered a fumble at the Ellet 22.
The Orangemen boosted their margin to 19-0 when sophomore 145-pound running back Paris Wicks, who rushed for a team-high 92 yards, scored on a 2-yard run to cap the opening drive of the second half.
The Rams answered promptly with a 61-yard, 5 ½-minute drive after the ensuing kickoff. Cortez Jones capped the drive with a 2-yard run with 4:26 left in the third quarter.
Ellet senior cornerback Dan Leffler intercepted a long pass at the Ellet 1-yard line early in the fourth quarter, and senior safety Brandon Brown later intercepted a pass at the Ellet 32.
Brown also had five receptions for 89 yards.
Senior linebacker Gary Somerville led Ellet with 13 tackles and Kassinger added 12 tackles.
i just want to see this kid do well, especially with the beating he's taking this year. he seems like a great kid and basically i just hope he doesnt sustain any serious injuries before coming to columbus for his own future.
