RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Seems like the Buckeyes are playing off the Beanie roll right now. I think that they plan to make his comeback seem murky up until about gametime on Sat. At that point he will be introduced as the starter, a Jim Tressel attempt at firing the squad up.......and getting a cocky USC team to be a bit more nervous. After that point he will have a heisman type of day, dealing up over 180 yards. This will swing him to the forefront of the heisman discussion, with his team on his shoulders........eating up the headlines like he eats up the yardage this season. Vince Young cemented his legendary status one warm Sept. evening in Ohio stadium. He was one of the last to knock off USC in a big game. Now, the two dynasties have regrown, into two of the best in the land. Will Beanie start the quest towards greatness this week? I've got a hunch that he just may.........:osu: :wink2:

I look for Chris to be used at the beginning of this game the same way he was used at the beginning of the LSU game. Give them something to think about and flex some power. Power O left, and break a huge run to get his momentum going. Beanie seems to run out of those plays very well, and if he gets rolling early, he'll put up Heisman numbers like it's no sweat.

Assuming they don't just stop giving him the ball, of course.

BuckeyeXtra - The Columbus Dispatch : Wells isn't part of team practice

Receiver Brian Robiskie said there is no question that Wells, coming off a 1,609-yard season and considered a Heisman Trophy contender, wants to play against USC.
"If he gets the OK and they tell him that he is ready to go, there is no doubt in my mind he is going to play," Robiskie said. "But a lot of it is (waiting to see) what they're going to say."
Is it just me, or does this not sound positive?

I agree that this was a problem, but the thing is, LSU got a surge of scoring off of turnovers and momentum and Beanie's runs weren't getting nearly as much in the 2nd half. I would've loved to see Wells get a ton more carries and have time to break off a big one, but I'm guessing that Tressel thought that the lead was too big (21).

I'm not sure if it was the best call or not, but it is crucial to keep the USC game within 7 points at all times, which I think is certainly possible and I think will happen. If this does happen JT will ride Wells all damn game and give him 30+ carries as long as he is effective. If Wells does get 30 carries and is effective, I can see him putting up anything from 130-230yds and 1-4 tds. Let's hope he rushes for 236 and 4tds.

I just caught a few minutes of JT's press conf and he said some things that left me a little more confident. Said that Beanie would do some football things off to the side today and then try and go at it tomorrow. Then it would probably be a matter of how sore it is after working it out. I'm paraphrasing of course, but it sounded pretty positive. :wink2:
