RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

"He said he's going to be OK," said Berry, who was visiting from Miami Palmetto High School. "I asked him how he was doing, and he seemed cool with it. He wasn't down or anything. He was like, 'No problem.'

"I guess he'll be back, if not this week (against Ohio University), he'll be fine by next week" for the trip to No. 3 Southern California.
Good news. Although I'm inclined to believe that with all the juniors that returned, and what this season means to the team, plus Beanie's own competitiveness, that even if they amputated his foot with a rusty axe, he'd duct tape the stump, take some horse tranquilizers, and suit up to play against Southern Cal.

Eyes to the ground ... on Wells' foot
Tressel plays wait-and-see on condition of OSU's running back

Ohio State fans who gasped when running back Chris "Beanie" Wells went down with an injury in Saturday's win over Youngstown State are still holding their breath. They are blue in the face with anxiety, waiting to hear the prognosis for the 6-1, 237-pound Heisman Trophy candidate.

Ohio State officials have released little new information on Wells, who sustained an injury to his right foot in the third quarter of a 43-0 rout. Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel has said only that X-rays showed no fracture.

Wells, a junior from Akron, got hurt on a play that started at the Youngstown State 2-yard line. As he approached the line of scrimmage to take a handoff from quarterback Todd Boeckman, Wells appeared to stop with the intention of cutting to his right. As he planted his feet on the artificial surface, Wells buckled, recoiled in pain and landed on his back, fumbling the ball.

OHIO STATE FOOTBALL
Ohio State expected to update status of Chris "Beanie" Wells after treatment Monday

Monday, September 01, 2008 Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter

Columbus- Ohio State is expected to update the status of running back Chris "Beanie" Wells after more treatment today. There was no information Sunday to change the belief expressed after the game Saturday that Wells suffered an injury to the front of his right foot that should allow him to play again this season.
"I'm not worried," receiver Brian Hartline said after the game. "Beanie's a competitor, and he'll find a way to be back, and he will."
The real issue is whether Wells will be able to play for the No. 2 Buckeyes, and how well, against No. 3 USC in 12 days.

All is not Wells at Ohio State
Star RB's status in doctors' hands

COLUMBUS Whether or not Chris "Beanie" Wells' right-foot injury is short-term, long-term or lingering, the Ohio State Buckeyes are likely preparing for life without him. How long may be determined today.

Wells went down about three yards shy of scoring his second touchdown Saturday in a 43-0 win over Youngstown State. It was a noncontact injury, but Head Coach Jim Tressel said X-rays were negative. All that means is Wells' bones are intact.

The foot injury likely is some sort of soft-tissue problem on the bottom of Wells' foot. Team trainers and doctors spent most of their time examining him on the sideline on the ball of Wells' foot.

However, Wells was smiling on the sideline after the X-rays. He wore a protective boot, and the general tone of information coming from Ohio State isn't serious in nature.

The latest information on Wells' injury Sunday from Ohio State spokeswoman Shelly Poe was nothing is broken in the right foot.

"It's not likely that there will be any update until probably (today) after some initial treatments and therapy," Poe wrote in an e-mail.

You guys are all suckers. It is perfectly obvious to me that this is all a big ploy by Beanie and Tress to fool Petey and USC into a sense of comfort. If you watch the replay closely Beanie is actually laughing at the thought of all the yards and TDs he will be racking up on the 13th. That Tressel guy is brilliant I tell you.... brilliant!

hehehe....

talk about the consummate team player...

"Hey, Chris... look, I know you're one of the frontrunners for the stiff arm and all, but.. I need you to fake an injury so SC has to think harder. And, you wont be able to play week 2."

Figures some ass clown from Toledo would manage to get the word "blue" into his story. Part of me wishes we could go back to 1845 when Toledo was still in SCUM land.

Screw the Blade until they are scarlet in the face.
