RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

I sometimes cringe when I hear our players interviewed - or any body's players for that matter. I was proud of Beanie. Especially his answer to the 2000 yard question and the immediate response to the Robert Smith question.

No, there's a lot of talent here, a lot of guys will touch the football.

And he went on to name them.

you missed the woody days where on his tv show hed do player interviewers. question would be asked, woody would interject with commentary then look at the player and say "right?" the player would say "yes" then the next question, three or for times over and that was in the interview...

They were always "yes"/"no" questions - and he had a couple of players who struggled with that.

if they werent yes/no woody answered them and then deferred with a "right" to the player. oh the glory days...

He wasn't confident last year? I'm sorry for the DBs that are man enough to try to tackle him this year.

For Robert Smith to say he could be the best ever is really something. Like him or not, Smith is analytic and not prone (obviously) to homer-ism. Can't wait to see Wells in action this year.

I usually have College Football Live tivo'd, but yesterday I come home from work and see my girlfriend cleaning out the DVR. I nearly crapped myself when I saw it erased.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the interview? I tried google, and youtube.

So, with Wells just shy of 2200 career rushing yards, I'd say that the 4000 mark is a decent goal for the end of his junior year (could be a BIT of a stretch in my opinion).

So, is it fair to say that he could end up #2 all time fairly easily, even if he does what we all assume and skip his senior year?

1,400ish gets him #2 all time and barring injury I'd say thats a pretty safe number.

As far as a SR year I highly doubt it regardless of what he's said publically. Only so many carries in a RB's body, no need to waste them when there is nothing left to prove in college.

BTW he'd need 1700+ in each of the next two years to break the record IF he went that route. Thats a sobering thought and tells you just how many freakin yards 5,600 is.

There was a link on the previous page, but that went to Tebow's. Here's a direct link to Beanie's interview.

Animal came back
Jenks came back
Boone came back
As long as Beanie says he will come back for his senior year I am going to live in my own pink little bubble and believe him.

RUN TOWARD GREATNESS
Buckeyes' Wells evokes memories of best backs

COLUMBUS - Put a dozen or more people around the dinner table every night, and you quickly learn about teamwork. That's the environment Chris Wells grew up in.

The Ohio State junior running back comes from a family of 13, so the team concept is something that is part of his DNA. "Beanie," as the 6-1, 237-pounder has been known to his kin since childhood, knows all about banding together and utilizing an all-for-one approach.

"Football's all about team and people looking out for each other. It's not a little like family - for me it is family - and I think you get a lot of your strength from that," Wells said. "I know my family at home and my football family here at Ohio State mean everything. They've made me what I am."

What Wells is can best be described as the drive train that makes the Ohio State offense go. He is the ultimate merger of size, strength, and speed. Beanie runs over people, he runs through people, and he runs away from people.

"Chris Wells is the closest thing to Jim Brown I've seen," said Archie Griffin, the only two-time winner of the Heisman Trophy, college football's highest award.

Continued........

"I do think about winning the Heisman. I started thinking about it way back in high school," Wells said. "But my most important goal is always for this team to do well. If I can help that happen, we'll see how that Heisman thing all works out. Right now, my mind is focused on this team."

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but I'd say Knowshon still hasn't quite figured out the stiff arm.
