RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

So Back to Beanie... What is everyone's guess on the number of rushing yards this season
well...

Much higher.

He ran for 1600 at an (estimated) 70% last year, higher.

That would take a lot of carries (probably 25+ a game on average), but possible. I think 1700-ish is a good number.

or Holy Hell he is great or our passing game is terrible 2,000 yards?
Our passing game isn't gonna be "horrible" by any stretch of the imagination. Beanie's presence alone makes the passing game much, much better.

1,300

1,500

1,800

1600 is a reasonable number, 1800 would be spectacular. 2000 would be ridiculous. I can see him reaching 2000, but I'm going to go with a number you didn't even say and say 1700.

EDIT: I didn't read NFBuck's post until after I made this post.. nice opinion you have there NFB.

CPD: Wells now runs with junior swagger

Ohio State's Chris "Beanie" Wells now runs with junior swagger

Thursday, August 07, 2008

Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter

Columbus- Really? That guy - the turbo-charged dump truck - lacked for confidence? What else would Chris "Beanie" Wells have needed in order to feel like he could handle the load?

Seems like a 1,600-yard season has done it. All that talk last year about Wells finding a way to play through pain was more about his head than his ankle. Hurt or not, Wells said he didn't have it.

"It's good to have a year under my belt, because last year at the beginning of the season, I wasn't confident at all," Wells said before Ohio State practice started this week. "It was a big difference from being on the field periodically to being on the field all the time. I feel a lot more confident and a lot more comfortable now."

Confidence, or the expression of it, is a funny thing, though. Everybody has it in the present but lacked it in the past.

This was Wells before the opener against Youngstown State last season, as he readied for his first season as a No. 1 back.

"I feel more relaxed and more free when I'm on the field," Wells said then. "My thoughts are clear, and I feel like I could run all day."

And then he gained 3 yards on his first seven carries of the season against Youngstown State.

cont'd...

Beanie on College Football Live. Paraphrased, due to my slow typing skills.

Q - What's different about this season?

A - The guys are a lot more focused, working hard, ready to go. A lot of people may think we have a lot of people coming back, and will be in contention for the NC, but that's not all. He have a lot of young players working hard.

Q - Is there a shot at 2,000 yards for you this season?

A - No, there's a lot of talent here, a lot of guys will touch the football.

Q - What's your reaction to being compared to Jim Brown?

A - It's incredible to be mentioned in the same sentence as Jim Brown, let alone to have it said by Archie, a 2-time Heisman winner.

Q - Who was the first person you showed the SI cover to?

A - My mother, she was excited, she cried.

Q - Name all 10 of your brothers and sisters.

A - He rattled them all off.

Q - Better nickname, Bonzi Wells or Beanie Wells?

A - Beanie, it came from my brother.

Q - Best and worst thing about the tOSU-TSUN rivalry?

A - I don't think there is a bad thing about it.

Q - Better tOSU RB, Beanie Wells or Robert Smith?

A - Robert Smith

Then Robert Smith came on, and said that he thought that Beanie could be the best RB at tOSU ever.

I'm gonna be a jerk and say about 1500....

About 1000 will be in first the first half of games, though.

[quote='BusNative;122572;0]Just got home from work and watched College Football Live - Beanie was great. Humble, quick-witted and ahead of schedule with his Tresselisms. I've been a fan all my life, but I've never been more proud of our program and the kids in it.

Agreed, and it's reflected with all the players down the line. Yesterday, even Terrelle Pryor dropped the, "I'm just here to contribute and help these seniors win," line.

110% JT.

There is a great mix of senior leadership and young talent right now. Just looking over the names on the 2-deep is embarrassing -- OSU could probably field a second team comprised of the backups and still finish no worse than 4-4 in the Big Ten.

you missed the woody days where on his tv show hed do player interviewers. question would be asked, woody would interject with commentary then look at the player and say "right?" the player would say "yes" then the next question, three or for times over and that was in the interview...
