RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

I know Beanie gets a lot of attention in the league, but your numbers weren't that far off from his last year. Do people overlook some of the other backs in the league?

JR: Beanie Wells, man, he's a really, really talented running back. I enjoy watching him play. But as a competitor, there's no way you're going to hear me say, 'Aw, yeah, that guy's just so much better than I am.' No, I will not say that at all. Of course, that man is a really good running back. The main difference you would have to say between us two would be our offensive lines. His offensive line did a tremendous job for him last year, as well as mine did, but I feel that I'm just as good as Chris Wells, if not better. There is more than just one good running back in the Big Ten. He's not the only one. I feel like I am, too. I also feel like those running backs at Wisconsin. They've got a group of great running backs. The Big Ten is full of talented running backs. It's not just Chris Wells.

Right, other schools still field a team too...but when you're talking Big Ten Running Backs, it's Beanie and then everybody else.:oh:

Translated: He's better than me but I don't want to say he's better than me. One lame excuse I can come up with is that his offensive line is better than mine so he gets better blocking....but I better not say that or else my OLine will get mad at me so mine is good too.

Has anyone ever heard Javon Ringer and The Heisman mentioned in the same sentance?

I honestly don't know what else a competitor like Javon Ringer is supposed to say. I don't get what's making you all so grumpy.

I agree with that. If anyone on our team said in an interview that they couldn't compete with the league's best, everyone would throw a fit. I like that Javon is using Beanie as motivation for himself. He's a good back. Let him prove it on the field.

Wow BN27, I didn't know you speak bullshit. Your translation is spot on. I learned it from reading depositions in the RR/WVU case. Where did you pick it up?

:io:

I think Beanie is the best of the bunch as well, but I don't think Ringer said anything wrong. 1) Ringer is a great back 2) just as he noted...is he supposed to say...yeah Wells is the best. I don't think so.

And for what it's worth, if you put Beanie behind their line and Ringer behind our line...I like Ringer's chances for most yards in the season.

That doesn't mean that I think Ringer's better, but I think his point is well put and delicately made that our line IS superior to what Ringer runs behind.

Honestly, the dude hands him such a loaded question it's ridiculous. How was he supposed to answer that??? I like JR's attitude towards not taking a back seat to anyone. He's also representing MSU and right now the MSU program is ultimately in search for respect....and more wins.

But to say he would be as good or better behind the same line (whether it be tOSU or MSU) as Beanie is just wishful thinking, plain and simple.:tongue2:

You want respect? Well, you gotta earn it. Let your play on the field speak for itself...don't get me wrong Ringer is a good back with speed and power but IMHO Beanie is a very good back with speed, power, vision and the best damn stiff arm in college football.

Again, not taking anything away from Ringer...but he's probably second best back in the B10. And BTW I'll take Beanie over a stable of Wiscy backs any day of the week.:osu:
