RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Oh yeah his size is plenty right now and I agree with that, but he'll add another 5-10 pounds of muslce as he matures though. If he's already 230-235 then like I said he may come in around 240ish by the time he's been in the NFL for a couple years.

lol Also him runnin in the 4.4's proves my point even further. The guy is just a rare talent, and with his attributes there won't be anyone like him in the nation. We're talkin bout a guy who can fit into almost any system as well. Pro, shotgun, and he even lines up as reciever sometimes. The guy can do it all with the way he runs whether it be out running or his favorite over powering other players.

No coach will let him get up past 240. He's not Jerome Bettis, and you WILL lose speed if you weigh that much. 230 is an ideal weight.

I agree, 230 to 235 is a perfect weight. Plus they will help him get faster if need be because of the weight.

Yeah, once you start pushing 240 and up, you take a huge risk. Not only will it cause him to lose speed, but his knees would also take more of a beating. Runningbacks are prone to bad knees, so you want to do whatever you can to prolong the life.

Beanie is like the perfect person to lead this team this year. He has that relentless drive that we need if we want to win a NC. I hope he does what he did during one of the endzone celebrations last year and run right back to the bench. Focus is what we need and that what Beanie does.

When you watch a highlight tape of him, you see just how many times he was just an ankle tackle away from '6'.

If he gets past the line with a head of steam and has a lead block, that's the only way they're going to bring him down. In the MSU game, he had about 3 runs that he could have broken for 70+ yards. I think this year he might be able to run those out. Healthy anlke + a year older, wiser, and quicker = lots of touchdowns for Beanie.

ESPN - Big Ten

I know Beanie gets a lot of attention in the league, but your numbers weren't that far off from his last year. Do people overlook some of the other backs in the league?

JR:
Beanie Wells, man, he's a really, really talented running back. I enjoy watching him play. But as a competitor, there's no way you're going to hear me say, 'Aw, yeah, that guy's just so much better than I am.' No, I will not say that at all. Of course, that man is a really good running back. The main difference you would have to say between us two would be our offensive lines. His offensive line did a tremendous job for him last year, as well as mine did, but I feel that I'm just as good as Chris Wells, if not better. There is more than just one good running back in the Big Ten. He's not the only one. I feel like I am, too. I also feel like those running backs at Wisconsin. They've got a group of great running backs. The Big Ten is full of talented running backs. It's not just Chris Wells.
