You become more aware of what you can put up with, and you become a warrior. Beanie's young, and he wants very badly to become a warrior, but you can't do that until time says that you have. I think of a guy in our league, Mike Hart. He's been banged up over the course of time. One year he had a hip or thigh bruise and kept coming back. And this year he had something. I have to give him credit, he lugged it 44 times the other day. He's a senior, he's been doing it for four years, I guess. Archie Griffin is a warrior. The stories go he didn't feel good until Thursday each week. That's the life of a running back, but until you experience it . . . and Beanie is in the midst of experiencing it."

Ann Arbor, Mich.- Was that right? Ohio State coach Jim Tressel invoking the name of a Michigan player as a gold - nay, a maize - standard toward which a Buckeye should strive? Sure, he got around to mentioning Archie Griffin, but the coach of the Buckeyes said he wanted his running back, Beanie Wells, to be like Michigan's Mike Hart.
