RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how Beanie did not hand the ball to the official on any of his touchdowns.

I wonder if JT will mention that this week in practice.

True, anybody else think he ran back the bench after the first td so Boone wouldn't get a chance to jump him?

I did. My first thought was his ankle was bugging him and he didn't want Boone anywhere near him.

Beanie stated he didn't want to celebrate because he wanted the team to continue focusing on the game and that they still had work to do (this has been posted several times elsewhere)...

nope. he ran straight back to the bench to send the team a message that it wasn't time for celebrating yet. that they still had work to do... after he scored the last TD he hung around in the end zone for hugs.

I'll go out on a limb here as say that next season Beanie will become the second junior captain during the Tressel era...

Boeckman and Beanie are the obvious choices, but Robiskie might throw his hat in the ring if he stays along with possibly Boone and Rehring.

no love?

beanie's game versus wisconsin was amazing. it takes a special player to cause the fans in the stadium to chant his name. his three touchdowns propelled us to that win, but yet beanie still doesn't get any love from the media. everybody is talkin about hart(from that state up north) and his heisman chances, but what about beanie??? beanie makes this team tick, that's been very obvious. beanie creates openings for boeckman to hit robo and hartline downfield. if it weren't for beanie, defenses could send more pressure at boeckman, and could do more to defend the pass. beanie is the player that makes the no. 1 team in the land tick, and if past years have any bearing, that earns him at least SOME discussion in the heisman race. So y is beanie gettin no love?? i don't care if he's only a sophomore, it shouldn't matter... he's still one of the best. well... i'm sayin it right here.

Yeah, I had heard this later on that day. I was just saying it was my first thought after he scored. I'm glad I was wrong. The real answer was a much better reason to do what he did.

BEANIE FOR HEISMAN '07!!

Interesting first post. I love your enthusiasm, but I think your glasses have a bit of a scarlet tint to them. It takes more than the 4th best rushing total in the Big 10 (remember, it's perceived to be a weak conference) and some late game heroics in games that we should win to earn a Heisman. Whether it's right or wrong, it takes a season of media attention, campaign work, and big wins (a la USC next year?) to get into the limelight of a Heisman race.

But, again, I love the enthusiasm.

Actually Olin Buchanon at Rivals said he thinks Beanie should be considered in the Heisman race after this week (go check rivals.com). Boeckman has also been heavily mentioned. I think there is such balance that not one person can be pointed too, though I think a healthy Beanie could be considered one of the best in the country. As far as best player goes, Darren McFadden is hands down imo and it just sucks his team isn't better than they are. However, I think Beanie could be a legit name to throw in if he finishes strong these last 2 games.
