Wells4Heisman said:Anyone got any info on this injury?
buckeye4ever21;937668; said:My only question is: Why did we still have him in the game? I think we were up by 38 points in the second half and Northwestern clearly had no fight left in them. I'd hate losing our 1/2 punch in the same week. I was suprised at how long the 1st team remained in there.

westbrock;937815; said:Not worth much. A high ankle sprain could be a real problem. You just can't tell yet how bad it was. I hope not it's not much of a problem because Mo Wells can't be a successful #1 back for us. Also, I don't want to miss an extended period of Beanie playing traditional OSU football.

Maurice Wells dives over the pile to score a touchdown. He had 44 yards on 15 carries and scored twice.
Tailback Chris "Beanie" Wells said it loud and clear: If Ohio State had needed him, he could have returned to the game yesterday.
That is probably soothing news to fans who watched the sophomore limp out after his first carry of the third quarter in a 58-7 win over Northwestern. He had just rolled his left ankle at the end of a 6-yard gain, which gave him 100 yards for the day, his third straight game at or above that mark.
Once he got to the sideline, Wells' injury looked serious, especially the way the training staff and medical personnel hovered over him, cutting away the spats over his left shoe, then the tape around the ankle before wrapping the joint in ice.
"I'm fine, I just rolled it a little bit," said Wells, who carried 12 times and had a 36-yard scoring run in the second quarter. "If it was a critical situation where I had to play the whole game, I could have done so."

OmahaBeef;937688; said:1.) Its still early in the season and the starters still need experience playing together before we get into the big games.
OmahaBeef;937688; said:2.) With how weak our schedule is looking (lack of a huge OOC game, and the Big 10 having a down year) we need to look impressive even in easy wins.
OSUNorthCampus;937702; said:the announcers on espn also noted that usually it's normal to have starters in for at least the first drive after kick off. also, remember this was after northwestern ran one back 99 yards, so maybe tressel just wanted to get things under control again.
milkman21;937704; said:I think they wanted to get him to 100 yds on the day. He was at 94 yds at halftime, and they gave him a carry right away on the first drive of the 3rd quarter. That's my guess, anyway.
