RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

I don't recall seeing Hyde play against Wisky. Did he play?

I thought he'd be the first to get the ball come 1st and goal from the 1...2nd and goal from the 2...3rd and goal from the 1...4th and goal from the 1. Then, after seeing OSU struggle to run the ball into the end zone earlier in the game, I thought for sure I'd see him get the ball come 1st and goal from the 1...2nd and goal from the 2...3rd and goal from the 2...

Not that I lack confidence in any other backs, but given Hyde's frame and ability, I'm surprised he wasn't used (at least not that I'm aware).

So is he injured, in the doghouse, some other issue(s), or did I just not see him (I am getting old, after all)?

I think he is simply the 3rd string RB at this point. Personally, I think he would be my #2 RB but I'm not the coach.

I hope he gets a chance, He looked good in the beginning of the season and his bulk can be useful in goalline situations.

This has been my feeling all season. I scratched my head when we ran the ball up the gut 3 consecutive times (as 7 Heismans stated) on 1st and goal in the 2nd or 3rd quarter and not once did Hyde receive any of those carries. If you aren't going to put him in the mix for a bulk of the carries (which is perfectly fine by me at this point), at least use him in short yardage situations where he SHOULD thrive.

I stay trusting the coaches but this seemed like a game for Hyde. Oh well. Look forward to seeing Carlos.

I can't imagine the coaching staff has forgotten his twitter thing yet. Obviously speculating, I realize everyone says its ancient history, but not sure I buy that.

If the staff is punishing him for his twitter outburst (he had every right to state his feelings, although some may disagree with the forum he chose) then the staff is truly clueless.

They will completely take away ALL of Hyde's carries for that yet start Herron and play him extensively/exclusively when he and his friends all but nuked the program???

I hope that's not the case.

I don't think it's right to compare Hyde to Herron at this point. Each is his own individual and airing your dirty laundry for the public to see concerning the program isn't likely to endear himself to the coaching staff.

I really wish we would have seen Hyde last night. That's the type of game, that type of RB is for. Especially having the ball inside the 3 for what 6 downs?

Would have been the perfect place to use more of a bruising back than J Hall. Really hope we see this guy play, otherwise, he could be gone. :(

I don't see Hyde leaving to be honest. He should be a huge part of the offense next year. Any of these guys coming in have to know that they are going to have to compete for playing time against older players that are established and know the system. It is critical that the RBs are well versed in pass protection (when we do throw) and usually this means a more senior back.

yea, I just don't see Hyde leaving, he worked his butt to even get to OSU and knew about the RB's, remember, he went to community college for a year just so he could come to OSU...

and I do I agree I would have liked to see Hyde run in those goaline other than Hall...but whatever we still punched it in for a TD...

and after what Herron did last night, I can't slam him too much, it's obvious he means a lot to this team

"Some" may disagree with the forum Hyde chose?!? Maybe it is a function of my age (getting up there you know), but to me I find it hard to believe that anyone would agree with the forum Hyde chose.
