RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

He'll undoubtedly be the number one next year. Not too worried about losing him.

I guess that's the weird part about this. He's good enough to be number 1 next year(total assumption),but he's not good enough to play at all right now. I could understand limiting his carries to situations where he would thrive at,but no carries at all really seems off.

I think it's two things really.

They like to just pound the hell out of the ball with Herron anyway. He's getting 25+ carries every game usually, and Hyde is the 3rd string. There's not many carries to be had.

And yeah, you know he's in the doghouse right now for the Twitter thing. It was pretty annoying to see them run Hall right up the gut three times near the goal-line (even though he did get in). Why not put Hyde in in that situation. I would give Herron 20+ carries a game since he's their best RB by far, use Hall with returns, in the slot and on screens and what not (though I'm not sure Bollman knows what a screen is), and Hyde as the goal-line/short yardage back. Keeps everyone fresh, but no... you're going to see Herron get it 30+ a game, Hall around 7-10, and Hyde won't see the field much more this year IMO.

Like Brewster said to Hyde, Herron's only got a few more games. Be patient, and you're more than likely going to be the man in 2012.

Kid is going to be special, he just made a poor decision in how he chose to air his grievances. I personally feel that he should have been given goal line carries, but maybe the staff was sending him a message. I suspect he will get carries next week.

In the locker room, players and coaches battle, scream, cuss, accuse, trashtalk, challenge, etc....but when there are eyes and ears present that are not a part of that locker room...it is one unified front. You smile and lie.

Cancers get cut out. Period.

Disclaimer: Cancers are allowed to roam freely in locker rooms as long as they are extra-super-special talents that win games. (See: --names removed to avoid Buckeye bashing infraction--)

If the staff is punishing him for his twitter outburst (he had every right to state his feelings, although some may disagree with the forum he chose) then the staff is truly clueless.

They will completely take away ALL of Hyde's carries for that yet start Herron and play him extensively/exclusively when he and his friends all but nuked the program???

I hope that's not the case.

He's the 3rd string RB now. Not sure why people are looking so hard for other explanations just because they disagree with him being behind Hall on the depth chart.

How many carries does one expect the 3rd string RB to get?

Pardon me for not thinking Carlos Hyde is a better back than Boom or Hall. I believe those guys have vision far and away better than Hyde and our offensive running attach is built for picking and choosing running lanes. Almost the entire running attack last night was done from the shotgun. Carlos isn't nearly as quick as Beanie and although his size is comparable, he just hasn't developed the ability to see the cut backs.
I would have liked to see him down there in goal line situations where we needed a ram rod type of back but overall, he is not one of our top two.

Even though he didn't play I saw him jumping around after the long TD throw. Seemed to be very happy for his teammates...

Hall and Hyde were a potent combo earlier this year and they will be even more potent next year when they split carries.

Hall showed considerably less vision in the pre-Boom games, consistently missing unplanned cutback lanes and plowing into the clogged places he was supposed to run.

Yeah and even on his touchdown run his vision was spotty. He had the outside cleared out the whole play and instead tried to run it up the back of his tackle before finally bouncing it out.

I just prefer Hyde because I see Hall as a very similar back to Boom of a few years ago and Hyde is a change up in style.
